Great view but not much else.
We wanted to stay near Paestum where my wife's father was during World War 2. The Expedia and hotel web site and previous reviews and pictures and views of the sea swayed us to stay here. The views were fantastic, however - Around 3pm on Wednesday Sept 18, 2013 my wife and I arrived at the Hotel Residence Le Terrazze in Agropoli, Italy. It was CLOSED!!! When I made the reservation I did note the hotel was closed from October 1 until the Spring. We were somewhat frantic being in a foreign country in an area where English was not widely spoken. There was a workman there who spoke no English but he did contact the owner who I spoke to who spoke little English. He came in about 30 minutes and in fact had our reservation. He took our money (cash only), led us to our room and he was gone. I booked this facility due to the view of the Gulf of Salerno and it was indeed beautiful, but we were several miles from town down a very narrow winding road. The restaurant was not open, the pool was not open, there was no maid service and the security shutter was broken the second night. The balcony door would not latch securely. We placed a table against the balcony door to bar anyone from trying to get in. Our cell phone did not work, we had no WI-FI and we were the only people at this complex. It was very unnerving. Our reservation should never have been accepted if the complex was going to be closed.
