Our group of 18 friends and family gathered here to celebrate our dual 30th birthdays, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. Karla, our host, was an absolute gem—she graciously allowed us to check in early and was incredibly accommodating with all our requests throughout our stay.
The culinary skills of Yesidro, his wife, and their son Israel were beyond exceptional. They treated us to mouthwatering meals, including chilaquiles, ceviche, and lobster. They also made sure the house was clean and beautiful each day and helped arrange transport. Their hospitality truly made our celebration exceptional.
The property's location felt almost surreal—nestled within walking distance were two private cenotes, offering us a serene and intimate connection with nature. Additionally, the nearby lagoon was a paradise for snorkeling. During our explorations, we were fortunate to witness an array of wildlife including birds, stingrays, eels, a sea turtle, and even an agoti - truly mesmerizing experiences.
The house and its surroundings were breathtaking, complemented by efficient air conditioning that ensured our comfort. Karla's constant availability through WhatsApp, coupled with the unwavering assistance from her and Yesidro in arranging anything we needed, made our stay effortless and enjoyable.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking an exceptional getaway!

Amazing Location, Beautiful House, Had Issues

The home is spacious and a great fit for a group. The grounds are unique and amazing from the private access to the lagoon to the on-grounds cenote! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to enjoy drinks and meals at the house.
Isidro and his family (caretakers) were a joy and took great care of us. We loved their help in making the grocery run and cooking for us. The food was good, though a tad bland to us. But that's to be expected because we're from New Orleans.
We loved the stock of beach towels, fins, and snorkel gear to enjoy the lagoon and cenote.
The location is fantastic. Central to Playa del Carmen, Akumal, and Tulum.
Bad:
House is in need of attention and maintenance.
AC in the main areas of the house didn't work for 2 out of the 6.5 days of our trip. Two days of not being able to congregate as a group without miserable heat (it was 95 outside).
We didn't have hot water for two days of our stay.
The rooftop deck that is eloquently described in the description was not useable. It was full of trash, ladders and maintenance equipment, benches in need of attention, and...a huge, broken hot tub.
Key kept getting stuck in the door so house was often not secure.
I get that it was impossible to get an AC repair person out on the weekend; however, for a house at this price point, I was shocked that the host was unwilling to work with us to make it right (she offered $10 per person). Many of us saved for a year for this trip.

Myself and the staff that manages the house work very hard to make the home comfortable for our guests. Its very sad, frustrating and unfair to see your review that was not at all truthful.
You let me know that one air condition in the kitchen was not working on Sunday morning (you check in on Saturday). It was very difficult for me to find someone to go to the house on that day. As you saw, the house is not in an urban area. Sunday is a challenging day to find anyone, never mind a technician capable of addressing the problem. On Monday first thing in the morning, after the technician toiled with the broken machine, we realized the fastest way to fix the broken air conditioner was just to replace It and we did right away. I'm really sorry if that was an inconvenience.
If you recall, I agreed to compensate with the dinner service on Sunday (worth $150) for your guests for the trouble of the broken air conditioner in the kitchen that night. You had said in the review I only agreed to compensate $10 per person ?
You will also recall there are TWO other air conditioners in the kitchen area that could have been turned on in place of the broken air conditioner. These two air conditioners would have kept the entire room cool in a very short period of time.
Anyway after the air was fixed I was in touch with you to make sure that everything else was in good order, and you said that everything was perfect. But suddenly after you left, I received a message that you wanted $1000 dollars back for not having one air conditioning working in a small part of the kitchen area for one day, It makes no sense. We have have 7 high powered mini splits in the house and two are in the same general area of the kitchen. We have an open space, and once the air is turned on, the area cools quickly.
About the roof, I had told you the roof top was "under construction" with renovations. You had known all of this too. Yet, you still comment on the area being unkept, when it was supposed to be off limits. I do appreciate feedback that can help me and the Team improve, but I do not appreciate words that were not AT ALL true.
About the hot water, that's another lie.
I have sent all the evidence that I have to vrbo, to be able to prove everything.

Bachelor Party Paradise

The shuttle service they set you up with was awesome they had a van to take us to everything while we were there. Akumal is nearby with great restaurants and beach access. The private lagoon out back for snorkeling was perfect for relaxing and getting in the ocean without having the leave the property. Highly recommend!

Loved our Stay!

Everyone was so kind and made our stay so convenient. The property is gorgeous surrounded my beautiful personal cenotes. The kids loved it and didnt want to leave. A perfect family vacation

Incredible Property and Staff!
Publié le 24 mars 2023 sur HomeAwayKarla's home in Akumal is beyond words. I stayed here with a group of 12 friends for my Bachelorette trip, we all were so comfortable and had an incredible time. We all felt like we were at a private resort. Isidro and his family were so welcoming, easy to work with and cooked amazing food. His son even went up into the palm trees and cut 12 coconuts for us to drink/eat, it was surreal! The house was beautiful, and so much bigger than the photos can show. The top deck had stunning views for sunsets and the "jungle gym", yard and pool were also outstanding. The house has a private cenote which had huge iguanas sunbathing and the Yal-ku Cenote Laguna is a 60 second walk down a path directly in the backyard which had beautiful neon blue fish; you can swim across and rent snorkel gear! Karla's connection to the driving company with Arnoldo was also so amazing. Lenny, our main driver, was so sweet and helpful. We all felt so safe while driving around Tulum to see the cenotes and going into town at night for dancing. I cannot recommend this property enough. I would love to go back and stay here again in the future. Thank you Karla, Isidro, Arnoldo & Lenny!

Amazingly Spacious and Safe Bungalow with Full Staff and All you Could Ever Need!

She also coordinated with Isidro to get all the groceries, etc. for the group and to ensure we were fed. All at a super affordable price point (14 total of us)!

MUST STAY!!

Karla was extremely easy to communicate with and helped my group of friends with transportation, setting up reservations, grocery shopping and being available 24/7. Isidro was extremely friendly, helpful and is also an amazing cook! The property it self was peaceful and quite with so much to do such as the jungle gym in the backyard and the cenote for snorkeling. The house is very space full and everything inside the house worked amazing. I would stay at Kayla’s residence over and over again. 30 minute taxi to the beaches wasn’t an issue either as the taxi service is very affordable if you are going with a group of friends. I would recommend Karla’s house 10/10 times!

Great property, very private and quiet, as any property in paradise there were a few mosquitoes.
Don’t forget to send a shopping list to Isidro before arrival that way you have something to eat as soon as you get there.
