Close to the creek
Publié le 8 sept. 2022 sur HomeAwayMy family came to this property due to it's proximity to Crooked Creek and the ability to bring our 3 dogs with us. It was a great location that was remote, and a Dollar store down the street if you forget anything. Our only complaint was the beds. The mattresses are not comfortable at all. I would also say the master bed could be a queen just for more space. My husband and I tossed and turned all night, which is normal for us to some degree, but we couldn't get comfortable in the bed. Also, the place was somewhat clean. I had to clean the dog waterer before I would let my dogs drink from it. The view is amazing. The property manager was easy to deal with and very attentive.

It was ok
Publié le 16 oct. 2021 sur HomeAwayThe beds are highly uncomfortable. We try to switch from room to room but could not find a comfortable bed. The master bedroom bed slants has some kind of board underneath of it.
The descriptions about the beautiful artwork etc. are not for the property you will be staying at. The couch was very uncomfortable. The couch described by one of the people who left a review was for a couch I would assume in the three story cabin that they got to stay in. But not for the cabin that the review is on. There is no porch. There’s a small narrow walkway and there’s nothing but trees in front of that porch so you have no view. The master bathroom shower is held together with tape. And I’m not real sure that mentioning to your guest over and over how they’re in the middle of meth head central is a good thing. And I get what the woman was saying about the bugs. I don’t think I would’ve been happy if I was there in August. The dog bed was probably the most comfortable piece of furniture. The chair that was in the living room the back is coming off of it. Kind of had to pile our trash up at the trash cans because we were there for six days five nights. I didn’t make the beds because I figured they needed to be washed as part of the cleaning fee that they charge. Although the cobwebs on the fans and on the windows. It gets a once over but I don’t think it gets a good cleaning as it should when you’re renting it out to guests. I also don’t like to be bugged over and over about coming up to view someone else’s house and their house artwork etc. Kind of felt like being put on the spot at that point.

Thanks for the input. Yes there are bugs on a mountaintop in Arkansas and deer roaming as well. Its a quaint 3 bedroom cottage reasonably priced... less than the price of a motel... in an idyllic location. I'm rarely on site and as a fellow dog owner who expressed difficulty in finding pet friendly properties having multiple dogs you were hospitably invited to view canine artwork from around the world. I enjoyed meeting you and sorry the property didnt meet your expectations. Thanks for the visit.

Very secluded spot for your family AND pets! Unplug from the rest of the world!
Publié le 7 sept. 2021 sur HomeAwayThis was a great 3-bedroom cottage on a mountain surrounded by forest. Master bath has a nice-size garden tub. There’s a charcoal grill and a fire pit area in the fenced yard, plus lots of room to roam around elsewhere on the 100+ acre property.
Most importantly this place is very dog-oriented! The owner is apparently quite the dog-lover, and both the decor and the overall design of the property show this! Dog-centered artwork and accents were all over. Even the clips on the shower curtain! There was a huge pet bed that was perfect for our Pyrenees mix, and there’s an automatic water bowl too!
Fair warning: the place is up a hill on a gravel road. We had trouble in a Honda Odyssey, but did fine on subsequent tries. We also saw a Toyota Camry make it with no trouble. You may prefer a 4-wheel drive if gravel roads are new to you.
But the isolation, the scenery, and the wildlife were all worth the effort. I’d definitely go again, and highly recommend it to anyone who really wants to unplug with your family and your pets.

Peaceful with amazing views
Publié le 28 mars 2021 sur HomeAwayDavid is a fascinating guy, let's start there!
He provides everything a dog could need: toys, bed, blanket and and automatic water bowl, there is a big back yard fenced in. We have smaller dogs so had to easily put rocks where the gates connect to keep them in, let me be clear in saying that was the Only place my 5 pound dog could squeeze through. Have you ever tried to clean dog hair it floats place to the other on vinyl floors. So sorry, our dogs hair is super clingy, your welcome.
The road up to the cabin is mainly paved hwy but does turn to gravel until the turn, the green man marking the drive is extremely visible before you get to him! The drive up the mountain is all rock, but my 2016 Nissan Sentara & 2013 Town & Country van made it just fine.
The couch in the livingroom is amazing (seriously wanting one) pillows from the bed made a great back rest. The appliances are up-to-date, heat/air works lid the chair forward and it electives nicely, TV works/with direct/dish TV channsels- there is no internet, THANK GOODNESS. we brought card games and had a blast!! Think rustic oasis on a mountain top.
Yes with the leaves off the trees standing in the back yard you can see the other cabin on the property, but not in to the other place either and they cannot see you unless your coming out/in. We heard very little traffic & very little other noises.
We have enjoyed our time on the mountain and will return! Thank you David for an amazing stay

Thanks for your kind words! I built the home in part in tribute to my dog Booster who changed my life and others lives around the world. I spent years collecting the canine art and carvings and its all to be shared with people like you who understand and appreciate how our dogs are an integral part of our families.
One note....cell phone receptionis great and everyone hotspots to their laptops so no need for dedicated internet.
Please do come back!!

Solitude
Publié le 3 oct. 2020 sur HomeAwayI liked it. Just what I was needing to get back to myself as well as to take a much needed break to work on somethings. Griffin my pup, wrll.he wanted to come because I was going.
We were lucky enough to meet the owner! Very interesting man with an awesome background of himself and his dog.
He made us feel right at home and as if I've known him forever. Very likeable man.
The drive up was gorgeous. Getting to the cottage was no problem. An earlier review said that you needed a 4x4 to get there. I'd drive my grandmothers car any day up there.
Now, if you're a girly girl or primadonna this place won't be to your liking. But for someone that enjoys solitude and doesn't need the best of the best with an inflated price....this place is well worth it.
AC/Heat, hot water, fridge, microwave...it has it all. A couch would be excellent tho, but none the less my stay was enjoyable. I can not complain about a single thing there.
For the price, I thought it was a mansion compared to where I stayed at the day before arriving which cost half of what a 4 day stay cost me here.
Griffin and I be back for sure! 5 💫💫💫💫💫!!

Good, but not Great
Publié le 31 août 2019 sur HomeAwayI have stayed in a lot of different types of lodgings. This one was good but not great. The best features of this place is the space, price, and scenery. The manager was pretty prompt with addressing a water issue we had. There were many good points to brag about.
However, there is room for improvement. The roads were pretty rough. I wouldn't recommend this to someone that didn't have a jeep or truck or to someone like me that doesn't like driving anything rougher then dirt or fine gravel. This was a very rough rocky road in places.
The inside looks pretty upon first glance but once you settle in you find things. The floors weren't very clean. I couldn't walk across them barefoot without feeling tacky and dirty. I swept the master bathroom and bedroom the morning after we arrived to find lots of dog hair and dirt.( My dogs hadn't been in those rooms.) I was tempted to mop them as well but couldn't find any floor cleaner. I did leave some behind for the next person. The kitchen cabinets could use some reorganizing and deep cleaning. Kitchen towels would have been great for drying dishes and a drying mat. I wound up using the bathroom hand towels to dry and place clean dishes on. The flies and gnats were horrible inside. Screen doors might have helped that. The grass in the back fenced in yard was a little overgrown for my small dogs. The furniture in the living room wasn't very comfortable and the sheets were a cheap slick material that caused the flat sheet to come unmade with the slightest tug.
Overall you get what you paid for. It was a good price for the space which is why I chose this location. The fact that my dogs could stay free beat all the hotels and rentals in the area. This type of lodging would be great for guys and outdoorsy people. The men in my group thought it was great. Just a little extra cleaning and lawn care would have made it much better for me. My stay was good. My husband would recommend this place and go again.

Thanks for your taking time to write a nice review. The road up the mountain is rock/gravel and no mud to get stuck in. You do NOT need 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive to get to the cottage. "You aren't in Kansas anymore Toto!" like in the Wizard of Oz lol . Many guests come and go with 2 wheel drive vehicles. There aren't any perfectly paved, smooth country roads in rural Arkansas. In fact, the County Highway road fronting the property is bumpy gravel that gets grated by the County from time to time.
You will be greeted by Mother Nature in all her spender... a subjective term for sure! Deer will likely greet you and armadillos may wander by. Once a year we have a Japanese beetle invasion (like lady bugs) and they get into ALL of the homes. Once in awhile there may be millipedes invading the porch or flies may take an indoor tour when you leave the door open. Even moths have been known to swarm and get inside. Overnight a spider with a Master's degree in civil engineering may build a beautiful web more complicated than those found on the internet! Dog Friendly is an under statement and you may find a dog hair has floated from heaven above and landed here or there. It's a lil funny a dog owner commenting on dog hair. I assure you that my cleaning lady Jenny spent all day cleaning the cottage after a few guys from a construction crew vacated it that morning. There "was" always an abundance of dishtowels and a dish drying rack. I will see to it that they are replaced if they were removed by the construction guys.
Rest assured the property is thoroughly cleaned but Mother Nature is why you would be visiting in the first place, right? You may have to swat something that offends you or sweep up offenders that popped up the night before. The property is clean but not sterile as would be a laboratory... that's what makes it so unique. A light bulb on the front porch attracts flying critters for sure and a door left open will let them in. A glass door won't help fight that aspect of Mother Nature...they'll just fly through 2 doors! Gratefully, we don't have mosquitoes.
. This is typical for rural areas like this. It's beautiful, secluded property and you won't be living in a vacuum, but perhaps WITH one sometimes! It's a given. I think you were out of your comfort zone for sure as bumpy roads and critters are what a mountaintop is all about!
Again, I appreciate your time in communicating your experience.
