OC Stay

We couldn’t figure out tvs, a/c, and no smoke detectors gave us concern. Also upstairs neighbors were loud and hardwood floors. Basement apt meant no views which we didn’t realize. Great location though and had parking.

Great location BUT

We never received a code to get in until 2-3 hrs later, I had read about the mold on the walls & broken ac & was assured everything was fixed, the air didn’t work for 2 days, frig didn’t close unless pushed in on bottom, mold in closet & above frig. I cloroxed the wall in bedroom so it felt safer to sleep in myself & washer always unbalanced. Great location but a lot of work!

While I stayed the heat did not work while it is 40 degrees every night. The power when out in multiple room and we had to keep switching the fuses on. When I first arrived the bathroom in the main space did not work. When you flushed the toilet brown water came out of the shower. The toilet in the master room continued to clog and unclog itself, even when we were not using it. The host only provided theee heaters during the short stay. We had noisy neighbors that were loud all night and morning.

we got there to all the windows being open and it was 52 degrees in the building! after shutting the windows, find half of the building w no power. couldn't find the breaker. hour later, we get all power on, to find the outdoor unit for heat was manually turned off!!! nice way to start. this is Meghan, if my husband wasn't with me, i would have had to leave! To top it off, sewage started pumping up through the main bathroom shower drain. called and texted owner, no response. asking for money back, no answer!!!! out of date fire extinguishers, w low level! Illegal please contact us for a full refund!!

Get the plumbing fixed and mold out.

There's a room that has black mold growing on the wall and the plumbing is terrible. Others have noted it in their reviews, which I failed to see until I had already paid. SIDE NOTE: NOTICE THEIR CANCELLATION POLICY. Anyway, the sewage backed up, toilets wouldn't flush and sewage came up through showers. Pretty nasty. We reached out and they just said they were sorry for the issue. On a bit of a positive note. The coffee carafe was broken when we arrived and they replaced that same day. The person in charge of the home was pretty good about responding to requests within 24 hours or so, but still, the place needs some major work. Not really a good place to stay at this point. We would love to be reimbursed for the last 2 days, we left early because of the sanitary issues.

What a Shame

Decent decor and great location, but major issues...and it seems (from prev reviews) that these things have been going on a while without being fixed. Broken leg on the couch (prob the least of the problems). Cleaning crew told us on arrival that no toilet paper could be flushed down the main toilet. We were told we could put soiled paper in the trash can next to it (gross). I told everyone we were staying with to just use the toilet in the bathroom off of our bedroom, which was super inconvenient, but definitely beat the alternative. After the cleaning crew left, one of the four girls who were supposed to be staying in the bunk room alerted me to black mold growing in the closet! A health violation...a place with black mold is uninhabitable. I didn't know what to do, because that room was supposed to be for four of our guests! We didn't use that room...just shut the door. I had to go out and buy air mattresses for them and put in living room. We tried to use the washing machine (which banged around until it was part way across the room) and dryer (which I'm pretty sure isn't vented to the outside because the room was a sauna while it was running). Refrigerator seems to be too large for the space (the door hits the molding making it hard to close, otherwise doesn't stay cold). Front door handle fell off and wifi password didn't work. Still waiting for response from owner 2 wks later

The house was disgusting. Black mold everywhere. Everything was broken. The host didn’t care about the issues or about us. I’d rather not go on vacation than stay here.

We chose to make our stay enjoyable…

Let me start off by saying that we enjoyed our vacation to the fullest. The location and condo were in the perfect area for the purpose of our stay. We had some major concerns that we expressed to the property owner and have been noted in previous reviews. Communication was open before and after our stay but not during. Again, we made the stay the best because we chose to. All issues were expressed and communicated with the owner. VRBO is welcome to connect directly to discuss and address any concerns.

Nightmare

When I first arrived the code to get in did not work so the host texted back with new code. Second it’s a basement apartment so you have to step up into all the room. Toilet was clogged when I first arrived was told plumber would come in 3 days. Mold on the wall and closet in bedroom. Mold over refrigerator in the kitchen. 4th bedroom you have to go thru a door and up stairs right next to the back door that goes out. The back door does not have a blind so you can see right thru the entire unit. I don’t believe they use a cleaning service between bookings because there was a used bottle of KY under the bed 😐 . There is a gas stove in the kitchen but when I turned it on there was a string odor of gas. I reached out to the host to see if someone could check it. He responded it’s a gas stove and how to use. I didn’t feel comfortable using it since there have been recent buildings in PA blowing up because of gas explosions. I also asked can someone check the HVAC they texted me back and asked if anyone would be around the next day and I yes. My father stayed in the unit all day and no one came to check it. The toilets kept clogging up and when my father plunged it feces from the toilet was coming up thru the shower. I took pictures and reached out to the host and he stopped answering messages. I cut my vacation short and left two days earlier than I anticipated. I’ve complained to Vrbo and the host hasn’t responded to them either I’m fighting to get my money back!!

Ocean City stay

Once arrived at the location I couldn’t find the actual space. I was told to go up a flight of steps to get to my property and it wasn’t there, I circled around the block using my gps numerous times thinking that I was maybe in the wrong location but it kept taking me back to the same address so as I’m parked in my designated area which is in the back of the property I looked for every door that had a code lock and I even knocked on a couple doors but we didn’t get too far as kind people in the area was trying to help.This went on for a few hrs as I was trying to contact the property manager but all that I was able to reach was an automatic system. Finally a family member went around to the front and down some steps, tried the code and it worked and finally the property manager sent me a text telling me that I had to go down steps instead of going up. I had no idea that the place that we were staying was at the very bottom and from the design of the property it felt like we were staying in someone’s basement. When we 1st went in and turned the lights on the place was okay but in the kitchen something went behind the stove as I was walking in but later that night I realized that it was a hermit crab. We didn’t care too much for the property but we made the best of our stay.
