Quite Disappointed, won't recommend
Publié le 15 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway1. The property is dishonestly labeled as a 6 bedroom house. We had 6 families with 12 adults and 8 kids. It's not an actual 6 bedroom house where 6 families can live in one bedroom each. 2 bedrooms in the basement were in very very poor condition. One of them is not a bedroom at all, it could barely be labeled as a den. It was extremely difficult for us to manage everyone properly.
2. Top floor bathroom door had no lock. We had put a basket in front of it to notify others outside that it's occupied.
3. The entire basement floor is very dark and cold it doesn’t have any insulation or following fire rules for the safety.
4. The folding beds were of no use as well. Most of the side springs were missing and all the mattresses were not good for use.
Not recommended, wasn't a fun trip. We go to cottages all the time, this was not up to the mark.

This is in fact a 6 bedroom house, all private bedrooms w/ closets, but not one where 6 families of 3,4 or more can stay in each and every bedroom. Four bedrooms are fairly large and can sleep 4 or more and but two in the finished basement are small and sleep 2. The bedroom configuration is on the site and the pictures are accurate. There are beds for 17 adults and 3 cots for small children. The cots are not like regular beds and do get lots of use so we will take a good look.
The basement is not dark and cold.. it is a heated with a furnace and also has a gas fireplace that has a huge output. There is a very large picture window overlooking the lake. This group did not have the thermostat on for the furnace and the gas fireplace was unplugged for some reason when my cleaning lady arrived. It’s hard to believe they commented on fire safety because when they asked us to deliver more propane for the outdoor gas grill we discovered they were grilling inside the finished basement in the garage with the garage door closed to avoid the rain. The garage is under and in the actual house. We immediately told them it was a fire hazard, not safe and to put the grill back outside. We are extremely concerned with fire safety and have fire extinguishers on each level and smoke detectors in every room and hall. There are also three carbon monoxide alarms.

Lovely Owasco home with a great view.
Publié le 26 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayWonderful accommodations for our group of 8 adults. The house can handle many more and the lower level would be a perfect hangout for kids or teens.
The place is very nicely furnished and decorated. We found a spacious kitchen, nice dining room table, and a very comfortable living room to relax in.
The weather wasn't cooperative so we did not take advantage of the dock/boats, but we did get to sit by the water and relax between rain showers.

Family vacation
Publié le 12 août 2024 sur HomeAwayOur family had an incredible time at this house. It was perfect for all ages. The kids had an amazing time swimming. It was perfect for small children up through adults. The owner was so kind and quick to act when the new dishwasher had a leak. She sent a plumber and it was fixed within a few hours. We had a great time hiking nearby and loved the town of Auburn.

Publié le 12 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe had a nice stay, I should have read it better I thought we were lake front so was a little inconvenient to walk down there and also not convenient to hang out at the lake,
but we made it work. Also the 2 kayaks were gross all ripped up and not usable we only brought 1 thinking we would have 3 and so we only had the 1 we brought, so was also disappointed with that.We did have an ant problem in the kitchen, that should be taken care of . The house it self was ok it definitely needs some updating and work in and out. The bbq was not as clean as the owner wanted us to leave it, but we did. Overall it served its purpose and we had a nice time. The Lake is Beautiful. We rented a boat and that’s the time we spent on the lake. The property is big and is nice to hang out in the yard. Over all we had a nice time

Our description says we are a football field length from the house to the lakefront so not sure how that was misunderstood. We do have two kayaks that are left upside down normally so I hadn’t realized the seats were ripped. I wished they told me right away as I would have made it right. I did order new seats after the fact. We addressed ants
w/ the terro bait although we didn’t see any..
I understand some people don’t like 1950 old house upstate NY and some older furniture but we have been updating whenever we are able . After this group we put a lot of new lamps and shades in, painted rooms, and updated rugs and decor.. I stayed there a week and felt very comfortable.

The house does need some cosmetic detailing and upgrading. The large yard was perfect for our grands! The actual lake frontage is very small, but we made due.

Making memories
Publié le 30 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayLots of room for all of my family. Great communication with our host, and thankful for her letting us start our vacation a little earlier. The property was great for whiffle ball games, volleyball games, and kicking a soccer ball around. Rain or shine, we made the most of the space. The home was very spacious and had plenty of essentials. Having the extra fridge downstairs was great too! Thank you!
