Great rooms with a view.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The restaurant is just OK but acceptable.

I normally have a very nice, quiet stay at Rydges, which I book from time to time for work. I find the cottages an excellent place to hunker down and work on particularly intense projects because of how quiet and out of the way it is but this time I had a less than satisfactory stay. Adjoining cottage had a massive party on my first night - so only about 2 hours sleep that night, and I was completely withered by dozens of mosquitos on the second despite keeping all my windows and doors closed - so again, no sleep again. Not a lot management can do about either of those things but there were lots of empty cottages so there was absolutely no need to place me (staying on my own) into a cottage adjoining a wedding party. A plug in mozzie repellent being made available in the room would have been an easy fix for the second night. I went home absolutely shattered. The real kicker was the internet being almost completely unusable for the duration of my stay. I could barely load emails much less get any work done - I had to drive to Botany and do my Teams calls in a coffee shop, completely undermining the whole point of my stay. Not sure I'll return to be honest.

Amazing size, great venue for weddings
Posted Apr. 21, 2024 on HotelsWe were taken aback by how large the villa was - The living/bedroom was massive, and the bathroom area was the size of a living room. I would recommend Formosa for couples wanting to get married. The size of the villa is more than sufficient to accommodate a wedding crew (make up artist, hair stylist, etc).
The only downside for me was the insects - Being next to the golf course, you will see insects. We saw many mosquitoes during our stay there. If you don't like insects, I would recommend preparing an insect spray.
We purchased the breakfast buffet option for our stay. It was convenient because we had a busy schedule ahead of us. However, if we had time to go out for breakfast, we would have done that. The food was very basic with some cereal, bread, jam, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and sausages. There weren't any salads.
However, the food we had at our wedding reception was amazing, and we received positive feedback from our guests.
