Not worth its 4.8 star rating. We suspect that many guests are not quite honest because the host, Sandrine, is such a nice person. Kind, bilingual, and helpful. We have long hesitated to write an honest review, but we do feel the need to warn upcoming guests about what to expect.
When everything was new, a few decades ago, the converted barn must have been truly amazing. Now, sadly, the place is not kept up.
What was good: the bed linens and towels were fresh and clean. The surfaces had been cleaned.
What was not good: many cod webs hanging from the high ceilings, mold in the kitchen drawers, the master bathroom had not been scrubbed in the corners, and has an old, moldy shower hose.
The furniture is so old that the seats of the dining chairs and sofas sag badly and give no support of comfort.
The worst disappointment was the outdoors. The place has direct access to both a private backyard and a private terrace, that have clearly not been maintained for years. There are weeds everywhere. No proper outdoor furniture. The once enthusiastically started planters with herbs and veggies, are terribly overgrown.
The large covered patio area that obviously was meant for the renters to use, with a pingpong table and other games is unorganized, dirty, and uninviting.
Another warning: the hedge is very overgrown where the driveway gives access to the road. One person needs to stand on the road to give an “all clear” before exiting the property by car. Very dangerous situation.
