Publié le 19 août 2024 sur HotelsWe enjoyed our stay at West Lodge Hotel. Our double room was situated across the garden in a converted outbuilding. The windows were small and I missed having more natural light during the bright mornings and evenings. It was too cool for me to sit outside although there was a chair immediately outside our door and a range of garden furniture for guests to use. The garden was delightful. I found the double mattress somewhat uncomfortable on my side but my husband found his side of the bed to be firm but comfortable.The rooms were clean and the bathroom had a bath with a shower over. It was a good size. Both main rooms had a door in them which was blocked off. These were a bit disconcerting. There was no drawer space and only one chair. The accommodation was fine for a couple of nights. The breakfast was in the conservatory in the main house and was a very pleasant room. All the tables were set with care and the room felt inviting. There was an excellent choice of buffet breakfast possibilities, including fresh fruit, yoghurts and an impressive choice of cereals and milks. The freshly cooked English breakfast options were prepared and served in an appetising way.

Ideal spot for touring the area with a lovely pub (The Bell ) great food, just 2mins walk away.

We received a great welcome at West Lodge and were well looked after.. The rooms were comfortable, clean and warm and facilities good. The gardens provided a tranquil haven and breakfast was excellent. We very much enjoyed our short stay, thank you.

Het heeft vooral de sfeer van een ‘guesthouse’, omdat het volledig gerund wordt door een uiterst aardig echtpaar, dat je ‘s morgens een prima ontbijt serveert en je op elk gewenst moment te woord zal staan. Heel anders dan een hotel met aardig maar afstandelijk personeel. De Lodge zelf is op leeftijd, dus verwacht geen hypermodern comfort.
