Thank you to one of the nicest families I've met in a long, long time! A joy to have these guests. But greater joy is knowing they bought property to build a retirement home only less than one-half a mile so I will have this wonderful family as a neighbor! Hurrah!

It seems all the Bristol Speedway fans wish they had booked the house for a couple more days as they were so pleasantly surprised at the wonderful views from the red rockers on the front porch, the coziness and quality of the furnishings, and how spartan clean the house is.

Perfect Re-charge
Publié le 15 août 2024 sur HomeAwayI planned this little 4-day vacation last minute, as a getaway to re-charge. From start to finish, everything and I do mean everything was easy and perfect. VRBO and Roger, the property owner, couldn't have made the process any easier. We relaxed on the front porch, had conversations in the very comfortable living areas, rested well in the large and comfortable bedrooms. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to prepare a meal and then some. My son didn’t have any luck catching trout, but he sure enjoyed trying. I enjoyed picking blackberries and blueberries as I watched him.
Roger surprised us with homemade cookies and made sure that we had a wonderful experience. Roger, WE DID. We take home wonderful memories, re-charged. So many relaxing and pleasurable experiences await you!

I think it is cool that you can watch your son trout fish while you stand and pick blueberries and blackberries and enjoy them! Always great fun to under-promise and over-deliver! As a marketing professor and dean for many years, I think I understand and strive to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction. My housekeeper is a retired librarian and her attention to detail is impressive. Any serious cook will appreciate how the kitchen is fully furnished with everything one would need. We try to organize and maintain the house such that when guests arrive, they feel like they have walked into someone's house who have just left for vacation. It doesn't look or feel like a guest house - but more like someone's house who's living there! About half my guests are return guests who rent directly through me so unfortunately the number of reviews now has dwindled.

These folks were always on the go from arrival to departure so I didn't manage to meet them, although I did take them down some freshly baked chocolate cookies and a bottle of wine to enjoy while sitting in the red rockers enjoying the evening mountain sunset.

Breath takingly beautiful

We were looking for a private, beautiful, memorable, serene location to hold a private wedding ceremony. We are so glad we found this one. Our wedding day was absolutely everything we wanted, and more. The views are better than a photo can capture. The host is warm and friendly. You will book as a customer and check out feeling like a friend. We are already planning our next trip to this property and will return many times in the years ahead. Book it! You will not be disappointed.

When I first made this home available for rentals, I did allow weddings ..... the second couple to be married on the property had a huge white tent put up and invited way too many people that outstripped the house capacity. Now, my policy is consistent with what this wonderful couple did .... immediate family only... with photographer and minister coming for the ceremony only. Intimate, private ceremony. I believe this is the 12th couple who have married on the property, and most return each year for an anniversary celebration. Mid-July is peak blueberry/blackberry/rasberry season so the berry patch is a favorite place for guests to pick there. So happy for another couple to begin their new life together here in the mountains.

Wonderful place to stay!

From picking fresh blueberries and red raspberries and walking by the beautiful trout stream, to enjoying the flowers and breathtaking views from the red rockers on the front porch, our time spent there was incredible. The house could not have been more well-stocked for us. Our hosts even provided us with a bottle of wine, fresh baked cookies and local strawberries. He also told us colorful stories and history of the area. Fascinating and gracious hosts! We're already excited about our next visit!

Always fun to see guests enjoy everything that makes a stay at the Red Roof Farmhouse Estate so unique and special. These two couples were really neat and special and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them and enjoying a glass of wine with them. The highlight for every guest is enjoying coffee in the morning (and wine in evening) in the red rocking chairs while taking in breathtaking views of the mountains with the sound of trout steam in background. Happy they plan to join my return guest pool.

The perfect vacation!
Publié le 15 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayThe Red Roof cabin was perfect for our group. It is relatively close to Roan mountain (a beautiful hike), and close to Burnsville where we spent an afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the front porch taking in the beautiful view of the mountains. The cabin is well stocked (kitchen, bathrooms and living areas easily accommodated the five of us. Note for those who like a cold beer after a hike, the cabin is in a dry county!

Enjoyed having Pam and friends take in the beauty of the mountains and creek, and walk to the blueberry patch to pick their own fresh blueberries! Actually, Mitchell County is not a dry county - there are several restaurants who serve beer/wine etc. And one can easily pick up their beer to bring in as they drive.

Jim & Chris’ Visit
Publié le 9 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayLoved the location of the property. The view from the rocking chairs on the front porch of Roan Mountain was spectacular. The home is very comfortable and clean. The kitchen is well stocked with everything one needs to prepare meals and storage. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of pillows. We will plan to visit the Red Roof Farmhouse again.

Having folks like Lettie and her guests spend several days enjoying the Red Roof Farmhouse is a joy. Like every other guest, the best part of the visit was enjoying their coffee each morning sitting in the red rockers looking at dramatic mountain views. Hoping Lettie joins my list of 50% of total guests who are return guests each year. and rent directly through me.

Relaxing Weekend
Publié le 26 nov. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe enjoyed spending Thanksgiving at the red roof farmhouse. The house was sparkling clean and, spacious for our family to have our holiday dinner and play games. However, not having a dishwasher made clean up a bit more cumbersome. The beds were comfortable and the house well stocked with all the plates and utensils you need. Our host Roger was very friendly and accommodating. We had an issue with the water but Roger and his nephew showed up in minutes on Thanksgiving to assess and repair the problem promptly! Roger even left a yummy pie in the fridge for our meal! The property is located a bit closer to the road and Dollar General than anticipated but it was still quiet and peaceful. We loved the Mountain View and took great pictures in front of the stream out front. Thanks for allowing us to visit!

In 10 years of renting, I had never had an issue with water. Have a great well An hour before check-in, the water was home. When guests arrived and started the cook dinner, there was no water!! A renters nightmare. Six people had driven 7 hrs for long Thanksgiving weekend and arrive to no water. Because I live in community and everyone is related to me. I actually had my nephew get up from Thanksgiving dinner to come and diagnose issue - found pressure switch gone bad on well holding tank. Getting a plumber on Thanksgiving - no way! But again because of relationships, we called another friend - a plumber and he got up from his Thanksgiving dinner and came within 30 min to fix the problem. So what should have been a total catastrophe for this wonderful family, was only an hours delay in dinner. Only in this small mountain community could such a Thanksgiving miracle occur.
