Love BHI but a bit disappointed
Publié le 2 août 2023 sur HomeAwayMy family and I owned a house on BHI for 15 years, so I was so excited to finally show my husband the island for our babymoon. This, however, was my first time staying at MHI. We arrived on the 9pm ferry after driving from work, and there was no one working at the Inn’s front desk, no check-in instructions, and no key. I also never received a check-in email. A phone number was left for assistance, which I called twice with no answer, I tried calling the BHI Services emergency line, again with no answer, messaged the owner of this suite - who never responded - and finally called VRBO who either lost connection or hung up on me. Not quite the relaxing experience I was hoping for at 32 weeks pregnant.
Additionally, I wasn’t aware animals are allowed at the Inn, especially on the top floors. I love dogs, and have 2 of my own, but we were awoken at 5am every morning of our vacation by the tapping of nails on the ceiling above us, the dog dropping its toys on the ground, and hopping on and off of furniture. Again, I was desperately hoping for some sleep at this stage of my pregnancy and didn’t get that here.
Otherwise, the complimentary breakfast was nice, the included golf cart was great, and the location of course was super convenient. We took advantage of the Shoals Club temporary membership, but be aware that you need to reserve that a week in advance, or they threaten a “late fee” for signing up….kind of a joke, but I wasn’t aware since I never received a welcome email.

We are sorry to hear your experience was not a great one. We have never had a check in issue at the inn in previous rentals and have addressed with the innkeeper on this and we do apologize the check in process did not run smoothly. As far as he other items, we do state all of these in our rental agreement which was signed. Our contract highlights the pet policy as well as the Shoals Club policy. We also send a separate email stating the shoals policy that any reservations need to be made in advance. We wish your experience at the inn could have been a more positive one and we hope you can come back in the future for a better stay.

Amazing Stay!
Publié le 10 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe had an amazing stay at The Marsh Harbour Inn for our first trip to Bald Head Island. Amy and team were wonderful hosts and the Inn is very special. We were allowed early check-in, our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, our golf cart was included, the coffee and breakfast were delicious…our stay exceeded expectations. We can’t wait to go back!
