Fabulous cottage in fabulous area
Publié le 30 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayMy Glencoe trip was a bucket-list item and it proved to be wonderful. Kentra cottage is lovely - spotless, all mod cons, comfortable, spacious, very well equipped. Many thanks to Kirsty the owner. Glencoe village is quaint and of course perfectly placed for the spectacular surroundings. There are easy walks in woods and by the loch side to very difficult ones like Buachaille Etive Mor (for an older person like me!) which I did (just) - worth the effort though. All in all, a superb trip.

Wonderful Cottage in the Heart of Glencoe
Publié le 14 sept. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe recently spent a week in this cozy cottage right in the heart of Glencoe. The cottage was very easy to find and was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything to make out stay extremely comfortable. The welcome hamper was a very nice way to make us feel welcome when we arrived. The photos accurately depict the property.
Despite concerns expressed by an earlier reviewer, we had absolutely no issues with plentiful hot water for showers nor were there any concerns at all about electricity. All one needs to do is read the brief instructions in the binder provided for guests. Again, neither of these issues raised were of any concern at all. We experienced nothing but a warm welcome to Kentra Cottage. And Kirsty is readily available if you have any concerns at all.
We ate breakfasts and several suppers in the cottage. Everything we needed was available. There was a small grocery store about a block away and a larger Coop minutes away in Ballachulish so provisioning is easy.
Kentra Cottage is a warm, cozy home to return to after a day spent enjoying all that Glencoe and area has to offer. We have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. It is definitely a 5-star property!

Nice Cottage and a Great Location but a Hot Shower Would be Nice
Publié le 2 juin 2023 sur HomeAwayThis cottage is an ideal location for exploring the Glencoe area and there is so much to explore here. The area is beautiful. The cottage is located literally on the street but we were not bothered by street noise as the bedroom is to the back. Once you locate the main street of the village the cottage is very easy to find. Our navigation systems wanted to bring us in a back way that seems to no longer exist. Turn of A82 onto B863 and then almost immediately turn right onto The Carnoch. Follow the narrow street about halfway through the village and the cottage is clearly marked on the right.
The cottage was laid out nicely and there was plenty of space for the two of us. While the listing mentions the electricity limits and that you’ll get charged for exceeding the limit, in reality if you go over the limit, the directions book in the house implies YOU, the guest, wil have to go to a location and pay the difference. While it wasn’t problem for us to stay within the limit, we found the described process as not very guest-friendly. Our other concern was the fact that you couldn’t take a hot shower. While we understand the definition of hot is subjective, even with the hot water knob completely turned on, the shower wasn’t “hot”. A couple of shades better than tepid would describe the temperature with the knob on full hot.
We fully understand and support conservation efforts but the overall feeling we got here was that it seemed unwelcoming and a wee bit cold… pun intended.

Thank you so much for taking the time to submit your review. I am disappointed that you did not reach out to me during your short stay so that I could answer your questions/concerns. For the benefit of future guests I will do so now.
The cottage is really easy to find - follow the directions (sent to all guests on PDF prior to arrival). You do not need to divert the way you suggest.
The cottage is indeed in the heart of Glencoe village, and 'on' the main street. However this is a quiet, small country village - as you can see from the pictures in the advert.
With regards to the electricity, the cottage uses a Pay As You Go meter. I alway make sure there is much more than needed in the meter. We have a fair usage policy in place for the electricity to encourage guests to be mindful with electricity usage, but only to highlight not to leave lights on when you are out for example. The ONLY time a guest would be requested to 'pay the difference' is if excessive use was noted, but guests would have to have the heating up full, windows open and run every electrical item know to man to achieve this! The reason I give details of how to top 'top up' , is in the unlikely event a guest manages to use over £200 of electricity in a few days - This has never happened.
In regard to your point on the hot water - like most properties, our hot water comes from a hot water tank, which unfortunately does not supply an infinite amount of hot water. If you wish to run several baths, and have lots of hot showers, that is no problem, you just need to press the hot water boost button in the cottage. I am so sorry the experience is not what you expected - you will see from all my other reviews, that our guests feel welcome and cared for - something that means a lot to me. I always ask that if any guests have any questions or concerns to contact me. I hope for future stays with other hosts you give them the opportunity to answer your concerns during your stay, not post review.

Great cottage

Central location for exploring in every direction and good forest walks from the cottage. It is located right in the village which means the neighbors are close and their rather untidy gardens are in full view. Owner very responsive. Would return!

Glencoe short stay

The house has everything required for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Good parking for one car on site. Huge and comfortable bed etc. Wifi available but not a strong service - but not needed when you are out most of the day.

Perfect Highland cottage stay

The place is immaculate, fully equipped, cosy and close to a variety of places to eat and drink. We also enjoyed some beautiful forest and Loch walks when we weren’t off exploring other places. We would definitely love to visit again and stay for longer next time!
