Great family weekend
Publié le 28 juin 2023 sur HomeAwayWe had a lovely family weekend in Forestside House. It was very clean and well located. It sleeps 16 but the dining and seating accommodation does not cater for 16. We were 10 and could eat together but not sit and relax together. The dining table and a couple of chairs were not very stable. One of the oven doors was broken and a couple of cooker rings were not working. This made cooking for a large number challenging. We are unlikely to stay here again.

Charming Stay

cold March with family

Beds comfortable and bedrooms clean.
Lots of books and outdoor play equipment to keep the children amused which were very welcome.
Bad: The worst thing was arriving at 4pm on Saturday to an extremely cold house which took over 12 hours to heat up - no-one slept well the first night. Once the house did heat up then the heating just carried on heating the house. There are thermostatic valves on the radiators but no master thermostat to switch off the boiler (which we could not find) once a decent temperature was reached. It cost me £300 for a week's stay for the oil and electricity. Be warned!
kitchen is tired - broken drawers and doors. Had to wash all of the cutlery, plates and mugs before using.
greasy oven tray left unwashed in the dishwasher. Did report this and told due to new management company.
Oven needs replacing - 2 out of 5 hobs don't work and oven doesn't get to temperature. Owner was aware of the hob when I reported this.
Internet was poor but not important to us.
Owner will respond that if I reported other issues then she would have sorted but there are lots, and I am on holiday and Not my job.
There are lots of other issues: 1 shower the thermostat is almost impossible to control and probably needs replacing.
I would recommend the owner to stay in the house herself for a week and list the remaining minor issues and rectify them accordingly. It is a nice house.

Great family house
Publié le 12 juin 2022 sur HomeAwayGreat house for extended family holiday as the bedroom door bathrooms were plentiful and well situated for family units. Location was central for all we wanted to do around Northern Ireland and was a great base to relax and catch up with family knowing the kids were safe in the enclosed gardens. It was self check in but we hadn’t been told so wasted a little time getting in and needed the meter stuff explaining but the host was quick to respond once over that little hiccup and resolved any queries or concerns promptly.

Great accommodation for a family celebration
Publié le 15 sept. 2020 sur HomeAwayPlastic utensils for children was good. Self check in and self check out works very well. Enjoyed using gas cooker. The children said it was the best holiday they ever had. Loved the play park too.

An amazing house with everything you’d need
Publié le 14 oct. 2018 sur HomeAwayWe rented this house for a long weekend to host a Large family BBQ to celebrate our recent wedding. It was brilliant! The house had everything we needed in it and plenty of bedrooms for guests to stay over if they wanted to. The whole process from booking to checking out was so easy and Lisa was a dream to deal with - quick replies and nothing was too much bother. The garden was great and plenty of room for kids and our dog to run around and play in. There was plenty to do near by as well so people could go off on day trips and entertain themselves. Would definitely recommend and already looking forward to booking it again!

Modern and clean but does have the basic standard services
Publié le 31 janv. 2017 sur HomeAwayThe house is well located, spotless clean, and modern. It's a perfect stay for large groups and the Homeaway agents are very efficient and quick to reply. However, no towels nor shower gel were provided (you need to hire some or bring your own), which is no longer the custom in this kind of industry nowadays. The house was really cold when we came in which doesn't seen very welcoming, especially in mid-january. You also need to pay extra for the gas and electricity, so the price is not all included when you book it. Some quality kitchen appliance and cooking utensil would have been appreciated as well but overall, the stay was fine.

Many thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay.
In regards to the towel hire and extra charges for electricity and oil, we did trial both ways of doing things. Being a large house if we were to include the electric and oil we found we had to add a blanket price onto the rental cost which seemed very unfair to the many smaller groups we have stay and the groups who use our house as a Base and are out sight seeing most of the day who would naturally use much less. Being part of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board we have to be seen to be energy efficient and after a years investigation on the usage, it was found that guests tend to have much less usage when paying for what they use thus less energy wastage.
The property is self catering and therefore will be differences from a hotel ie towels and shower gel, although we like to provide the nicety for our guests to be personally checked in.
Guests do not always state what time they plan to arrive and therefore we do not put the heating on in such a large house if the time of arrival is not stipulated for the reasons above.
We appreciate the time you have taken to review our property and we are always reviewing the comments and working hard to provide the most pleasant stay for our guests. We hope you also appreciate the points explained and have a better understanding for the way things currently run as they do.
