Amazing property with gorgeous views
Posted Nov. 14, 2024 on HomeAwayWe trully enjoyed our stay here! Fantastic property and views. You can also take a gorgeous walk by taking the road that goes through the community and get to the green fields to enjoy sunset.

Know before you go
Posted Jun. 8, 2024 on HomeAwayOn our first day we found stinky decayed dead mice on a sticky board beneath a table in the main room. Messaged the host. "John, we arrived just after 2:30 PM. Everything smooth. Decided to brush up on a little putting game I have and the ball went underneath the credenza. Looking under to retrieve my ball found these two dead mice on a sticky board decayed and odiferous. I have the photo here to send you, but I do not know how.to attach it. I have disposed of them, but frankly shocked." His answer: Message from the host
"Bryan, I am sorry you found those. To be honest, they are very common in the mountains. We have six homes up here and all six of them are treated A-1 pest control. it seems like no matter what you do they still find a tiny crank or an open door to get in. Please accept my apologies for this unpleasant experience. I will contact the pest control company tomorrow. " Not what I was expecting and insultingly condescending. Also, you need to know this property is stairs and stairs. It's not a bad place but best for young families or teens. The
dead mice incident, which from the decayed corpses indicated they had been there a long time, and the cavalier response would dissuade me from any of this host's properties. The property is, however, well-decorated and has a lovely view from the deck. This is only my experience. I have stayed at VRBOs in the US and Virgin Islands and have had many good experiences in the past, and we prefer VRBOs.

This was an unfortunate incident with this guest. There is no way that I was or intended to be condescending. I just know that everybody in the mountains has pest control services for a reason. As you can see from my email that he copied into his reply, I both apologized and took action to resolve the issue. I don't know what else I can do in a situation like that. I don't know why this guest thought my response was "cavalier". I hope those that are reading this will take the time to read the hundreds of other (mostly 5 star) reviews.

Senior ladies birthday trip
Posted May 15, 2024 on HomeAwayWe had a wonderful time. Loved this place. Our only compliant was lack of soap to wash hands.there was no dish soap to hand wash dishes.
The house was very centrally located to everything.

I am so glad this guest loved our place. We always keep dish soap under the sink in the lower cabinets. I wish I had been contacted while you were there, we could have directed you to our supply of soap. We hope you come stay with us again!

Ladies retreat
Posted Apr. 22, 2024 on HomeAwayThere were 8 of us on a church retreat. The home is beautiful and well equipped. The views are amazing. There are several steps to get down to the walkway to the home that should be noted for older renters, we had an 83 yo with us and it was difficult for her. The steps inside are a little steep and she had to stay on the main level the entire 7 day stay. Also, on the warmer days the home reached 76 - 77 degrees (in April) it was quite warm inside even with the windows and doors open (that we could open). I contacted the owner about several issues and his response was to raise the windows and open the doors and indicated that ac wasn't really needed in the mountains and that he would address the other issues after we left, including the ice machine that had quit working. Not the response that we had expected.

Even though this guest enjoyed the home, I was sorry to hear about her negative comments. See stayed six days and on the fourth day she emailed me about a few things. This guest knew when she booked this place it was on the side mountain and the home was on three levels. Unfortunately, I have no control over the physical ability of guests in navigating standard-to-code steps. All the windows and doors are operational and allow the cools breezes to blow through the house. Like many homes in the area, at a 4,300 feet elevation, AC is not needed and we don't advertise that it has AC. I responded in minutes to her email about the ice machine (which works perfectly as confirmed by cleaner and guests that arrived both before and after this guest) and told her to check the arm (which they apparently raised) which shuts off the ice maker. She never responded to my instructions so I assumed everything was ok. Unfortunately, this guest was difficult before she arrived and that was reflected in her review.

Easy and convenient
Posted Mar. 16, 2024 on HomeAwayAccess to property was good. Close to banner elk downtown. Def bring extra PT and TP, soap, shampoo. Great views. Nice layout for families with separate floors. Hard to control the temperature since no AC and vaulted ceilings.

After Christmas Vacation

We enjoyed having this family. I am not sure where Teri got her information about a hot tub. We use to have a hot tub at this property that was available for guests but we shut it down about 9 months ago because of constant damage and maintenance issues. We don't have this property listed as having a hot tub and it is not identified in our amenities. I don't know where Teri got her information to think there was a hot tub available for her family.
