Beautiful Overlook
Publié le 8 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe view and quietness were breathtaking, the home was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. All ages of our family enjoyed our stay. Property is situated for access to Acadia and Bar Harbor.

Quiet location w/ beautiful view
Publié le 2 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe were 3 adult couples visiting Acadia Park. Layout allowed us to spread out - 1 bed/bath on each floor, 1 bdrm was unused. Older home so you can hear people going up/down stairs at night. Location was quiet, away from hustle and bustle but close enough to Bar Harbor, Acadia and some convenient restaurants nearby. Beautiful view from deck and fun to walk down and explore the shore. Kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated items in pantry, condiments and plenty of spices. House could use some general minor maintenance but overall we enjoyed our stay.

I rely on that to help me know what our guests like and dislike. The repairs you reference are well known. It is hard during the very busy season to get punch list things done, because workers are really busy and because we very rarely have space when guests are not staying with us to get non urgent things done without disturbing guests' stay. I am always looking for ways to make Overlook more convenient for folks. Thanks again for coming.

Breathtaking views
Publié le 2 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayIt was a vacation for a grown family with 2 young grandchildren. Nana, Papa and aunts and uncles. Kitchen was terrific as we did all our own cooking. Nice size fridge for a weeks groceries for 10! WiFi worked well for a few that had to work remotely. Great time in a large comfortable home.
If I were to offer any suggestions, making more bath towels available would be nice.

A little hideout
Publié le 31 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThis place is in a wonderful location. Wooded and right on water. The walk to th shore is made of wood steps. The shore is just peaceful and so natural. With all those little creature in the water and under the seaweeds. The sunrise and sunset over the water is mesmerizing. The deck is so memorable to sit with family and chat.
Downtown Bar Harbor is fun to walk around. Lots of quick bites and all tasty. The waterfront grassy area is like in a painting. Sailing boats passing by, people and kids, family and friends…There is a lobster roll place right nearby where you can order takeout lobster rolls and borrow their tarps to sit on the grass. That was a real treat.
We used the public transportation to get where we wanted to go. We walked from the property to a camp ground nearby to ride the bus. The walk is about 10 to 15 minutes. The bus is always on time and the drivers are very pleasant.
The owner, Peter, even brought in a cake for us to enjoy. We never met but he and I communited well through messaging. No issues.
Washing machine and dryer are in good working order. Kitchen supplies are plenty.
Again, I want to mention that deck. Its image stuck in my mind. And a bald eagle will come by every day to perch right in front of us. Gorgeous. She must have a nest nearby.
We were with our kids and grandkids there for a week. And that week is full of warm memories. Thanks for making this possible.

Thanks for coming to Overlook, Tung, it was a peasure to host you and youir family. You are right, there are two nesting pairs of bald eagles on Hadley Point. One pair is within 100 yards of the deck. Please let e kniw if you can think of ways I can make Overlook more enjoyable for future guests and come again!

No battery for Smoke Alarm to stop chirping
so we disarmed it

It's always a disappointment to learn that a guests is not happy. The reviews over four years show that people appreciate the efforts that the team and I invest to make each stay a special one. Those same reviews also show that Johanna's review is the outlier. Our guests register time and again that we are responsive, attentive and caring.
That this kind of negative review comes from a person who reserved for three people and came with 10 is a little startling.
We count on feedback from our overwhelmingly satisfied guests to make sure future guests have a positive experience, but in this case feedback was inconsistent, not to mention rude. The guests also displayed naivitee about logistical issues and simple misinformation. Our guests routinely register how well kept and equipped the property is and our attention to detail.
The quest's concerns have not been registered by any previous or subsequent guests. We are committed to giving our guests the best possible experience.

Family Trip to Remember!

How can you go wrong, though, with a beautiful national park and such a wonderful house to come back to each afternoon/evening! The location of the house was fantastic for all of our exploring. Views from the deck for sunrise and to watch the seals, dolphins, and eagles, were simply divine! Peter was great in his communication with us and ensuring that our trip was excellent! Couldn't have asked for more!

Amazing Maine Location & Host

The location was the perfect place for any weather from sun to rain, with plenty of space indoors/outdoors/and even a screened in covered porch. We enjoyed relaxing in the comfy deck chairs to the sounds of waves lapping below and gulls calling. It was so utterly peaceful that even if you didn’t leave the house to venture into Acadia or Bar Harbor (both extremely close) you could still call it a vacation well spent!
The beds were comfy, the kitchen was the best appointed kitchen I’ve had in a rental hands down, and there were games handy to play if you wanted to.
The Host was super responsive and provided really well-written instructions for everything, we had no issues with anything at all!
If you’re looking for a family friendly space to get the essential Maine experience with, Overlook is the spot!

Great host and location

The view is great, close to all hiking trails and restaurants.
Peter is kind and committed to meeting the needs.

Adult family getaway
Publié le 31 oct. 2023 sur HomeAwayProperty owner was very attentive. Instructions provided were comprehensive and the house was well appointed. Loved the popover pan and espresso machine. Enjoyed harvesting fresh mussels. Beautiful view from deck of Frenchman Bay. Great access to Acadia and hiking. Great access to Bar Harbor. We were 4 couples age range 25 yrs to 60 yrs. Plenty of room for everyone.
