We had a great stay at Spruce Chalet! The view of the ocean from the deck is just gorgeous, any time of day, any weather. There are steps right out the door down to the beach, and the kids had fun looking for sea glass and shells.
The chalet itself was the perfect size for our family of four and dog. It had a nice selection of books, an open floor plan and a small but mighty kitchen with everything you need to make a good meal. It has a sweet, cozy feel, and is also large enough so it felt like we could have some quiet space too.
Sweet Pea’s, just down the street, is a great restaurant (with adjacent winery and coffee shop), and an outdoor covered deck overlooking the farm. It’s dog friendly, too!
The chalet is about 9 minutes to Bar Harbor, and about 5 to the Hulls Cove entrance for Acadia. We often drove into town, parked in one of the lots, and took the free Island Explorer bus into Acadia. There is also a route that stops close to the chalet (Hadley point campground). We were able to pack a lot in—Cadillac, Gorham, Thunder Hole, Sand Beach, Jordan Pond House, and Eagle Lake. We took a day trip to the Cranberry Islands too, went on Lulu’s Lobster boat, and caught a movie at Reel Pizza.
It was nice to have a place to relax at the end of the day that was just far enough to feel remote, but close enough to be convenient.
Peter was very responsive when we had any questions, and is knowledgeable about the area. We’d definitely stay here again!
