Avis Edard's Great House

Beware booking with this host. Our extended family of 11 members, had booked this home 3 months prior to an expected stay from 6/20-6/23. On 6/2, I had contacted the host to see if it was possible to check in a few hours earlier. I received a response on 6/10, that an earlier check in was possible but that we would need to be punctual on check out as another family was scheduled to stay after us. 18 hours before we were scheduled to arrive, I received an email stating that a family member was ill and that they would be unable to prepare the home for our stay. The host went on to add that the home was also undergoing renovations which were not completed. They offered to put us up with a "friend" whom we could pay additional Euros on arrival. I can understand having to cancel for an urgent illness in the host him/herself. However, this was a diagnosis for a family member. To not have a "backup individual" who could prepare the home seems irresponsible. Furthermore, how did they not realize that renovations would not be completed in time! To cancel a large group, only 18 hours before a scheduled stay during the height of summer is thoughtless! To offer an alternative stay where we would need to pay the new host additional Euros upon arrival made me question a scam. We were fortunate to find multiple hotel rooms in Barcelona but it defeated the purpose of having a common space to gather. We are now 2 weeks after she cancelled and I am still waiting for my refund.

Beautiful home with awesome amenities! Close to everything- train, beach, restaurants! Highly recommend for large groups!
