Check in was ridiculous
Posted Oct. 8, 2024 on HotelsArrived at 330 for 3pm check it. Waited til 5 pm but in room at very end of hallway. There is 1 elevator a 1 end of building. I was traveling with 79 year old mother an requested handicap accessible. This was far from handicap accessible. Told the hotel staff she was pleasant an was trying her gardest to accommodate. The back up of ppl trying to check in eaiting for rooms to become available was crazy. Why have a 3 pm check in when you can't get near a room until 5pm. We had not eaten yet because we planned on checking in gettung cleaned up an goi g to nice dinner. They let us stay in far room until they found us another closer to elevator. When finally checked into right room an settled in, it was after 6 an we were exhausted an just grabbed waffle house an sleep as my mom is 79 waiting 3 hours to check into a hotel was ridiculousness. After first day rest of stay was nice m. Again hotels.com should tell you the hotel will be putting 100$ on card when you book for incidentals.

We were disappointed to arrive after 3p on the day of our reservation to find that our room wasn't ready yet. And because the LSU football team was staying in that hotel and they blocked off the entire second floor, we weren't able to access the gym at the hotel. The pool was also under renovation, so was also unavailable to us. These are things that would be nice to know at the time of booking, when possible.
We also waited almost 30 minutes on Saturday morning to get some coffee in the lobby. I know the hotel was busy this past weekend, but that all felt like things the hotel could have anticipated and been better prepared for. Since this hotel has the reputation of being one of the largest hotels in Baton Rouge, I would expect a higher level of staffing and preparation. Now I'm more inclined to take my chances with smaller downtown hotels, since they may offer an equal or better service experience for the same price.
