Suberb location, immaculate and cozy

It was marvelous to leave the car at home and walk to the river front and so many delightful eateries. Don was a wonderful host who anticipated all our needs. The garden was divine with a stunning paper bark birch tree and a family of 4 deer outside the kitchen table window. This cottage was very well planned (outlets just where you need them) and well equipped (nice kitchenware!). We hope to return soon.

Thank you Cathy for the nice review. Marline and I work hard to ensure the cottage is spotless and well equipped. We can not guarantee deer will be present for each guest but the odds are good. While hard on the gardens, we welcome the deer as they were here first.

We were in a very short walking distance to the wonderful river path and the old downtown Bend area - both of which we wanted to visit. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay; comfortable bed, stocked kitchen, beautiful patio area for relaxing, perfectly clean and stocked with kitchen and bath supplies. Don is a great host - attentive without being intrusive. Bonus for us, the electric charging for our car worked smoothly and conveniently for our stay. We wish we could have stayed longer and plan to return, as Bend area has so much more to explore than we had time to visit and the cottage is ideal for relaxation time as well.

Thank you Gloria for mentioning how we interact with our guests. "attentive without being intrusive". The Cottagers (what we call our guests) set the tone for interaction. Some folks want to engage with their hosts; some not so much. Marline and I try to "read" the vibe and respect it.
And thank you for mentioning the Level II Electric Vehicle Charger. Located immediately next to the Cottage's private, cobblestone parking pad, the charger is seeing more and more guest use. Installed over 7 years ago, we believe the Second Street Cottage was the first short term rental in Bend to offer a charging station.

Bend Cottage
Publié le 9 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayA really lovely cottage just a couple of blocks from the Bend downtown and historic district. Very nice amenities- everything was thought of. Perfect for a couple to getaway to Bend. A five minute walk to the Mirror Pond Veterans Park

While staying, you mentioned that you love to stay in cottages and walk/explore downtowns. Being seasoned and focused travelers, your review is a nice testament to the Second Street Cottage. Marline and I hope you will visit again when on the West Coast.

Thank you for the nice comments. With downtown Bend only a 4-5 minute walk from the Cottage, it’s location is hard to beat, especially when one takes into account the seclusion and quite hideaway location

Weekend in the Cottage

The gardens are lovely and we absolutely enjoyed sitting on the back patio watching deer and hummingbirds. The cottage is elegant and comfortable with everything we needed for a fantastic weekend. Engaging interior design professionals to recommend updates and specifics ensures the Cottage appearance remains congruent. Anything that goes in there is true to the design theme; not just something we have left over or no longer desired. Return during a different Season and experience the changes in bedding, accent pieces, and art. These adjustments help to keep the Cottage fresh and inviting.

It was the perfect home base for us while we spent the week in Bend. The back patio was so peaceful and beautiful and we loved having a grill to use! Don is a great host - ready to answer any questions, or accommodate a need. And the location - so great to just walk to town! We will definitely be back!

Thanks for the great review. One of our underlying principles is that the traveler has a finite amount of time. If we can provide something that most guests would have to seek out and purchase, we are not only saving the guest money but also time; time that can now be used for something fun.

3 Nights in Bend
Publié le 4 août 2024 sur HomeAwayFor 2 of us, this cottage was perfect! It has everything you need and Don is a fantastic host. Very comfortable and clean and a great location. We even had deer hanging out with us in the back yard. Highly recommended if you are visiting Bend!

Thanks for taking the time to write a reveiw. We cannot always predict when the deer families will be in the gardens or sleeping outside the Cottage windows. This year we have 4 fawns on the grounds.

Absolutely lovely

The cottage was clean, comfortable and we loved the way it was furnished. The patio is absolutely delightful. They have thought of everything. We had contemplated staying at a hotel for our brief stay but so glad we didn't. This was so much better. Highly recommend.

Brief stay in Bend
Publié le 20 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayMy husband and I were planning a trip to Portland for a wedding and wanted to spend a few days in Bend before the wedding.
Don and Marlines cottage was perfect. They have thought of everything and provided a lovely place for a stopover or lengthier stay that left us wanting to stay longer.
The cottage is perfectly located to take advantage of everything Bend has to offer. It is within a short Walking distance to the river, breweries and amazing restaurants. Although we didn’t spend a lot of time in the cottage what we did spend there was extremely comfortable.
They have created a beautiful cottage in a lovely garden with a private patio for the guest cottage and gave great advice for restaurants and area trips.
Highly recommended!!

Thank you for the great review. Marline and I work hard to ensure guests have everything at hand to allow for more adventures and less going to the store to buy something for a day. Beach towels, lawn chairs, several size coolers, even a small backpack for short day trips. We alsways syay if you need something, it is probably in the cottage, we just need to tell you where. LOL
