The Cottage is the perfect location for you to relive those holidays of your past, start a new beach holiday tradition, or just pop in for a home away from home experience for a few days.

Wake up to the sound of the ocean in this funky 2 bedroom 1950's cottage, situated on the property where we live & is within metres of beautiful Kirby's Beach in Berrara. This convenient location caters to every level of activity; from lazing with a good book to swimming, surfing or snorkelling at the beach opposite. There are also many other local gems to explore; Berrara Lagoon is a short stroll away, take a leisurely 15 min walk to Swan Lake, or grab your bike or car and explore the many bush tracks in the local surrounds.

The Cottage can comfortably accommodate two adults & three children or two couples. The main bedroom holds one double size bed and the second bedroom holds a tri bunk bed (double bed with a single bunk on top). There is a new compact kitchen containing a fridge, microwave & 2 burner ceramic cooktop . The bathroom has had a beaut renovation that's in keeping with the retro feel & contains a shower and inside toilet. The external laundry also has an internal shower. Shared Gas BBQ facilities are also available & there is one designated car parking spot.

Bed sheets & towels are also included in the tariff . A travel cot & a child's high chair are available if required.

Unfortunately there is no perimeter fencing (we enjoy the kangaroos passing through too much) so dogs are not permitted

Location

Berrara is a pleasant 2.5 hour drive from Sydney and a similar drive from Canberra. Whether its surfing, fishing, waterskiing, kayaking, snorkelling mountain biking, bush walking or whale & dolphin watching, this beautiful area has it all.
Not only does Berrara boast three beautiful beaches, that is, Kirby's beach, Cudmirrah beach & Berrara beach but we also have the lovely Swan Lake, ideal for waterskiing, swimming & sailing.

Shops & Facilities

There is a Cafe/General store at Cudmirrah on Swan Lake where you can enjoy great meals & coffee or pick up a few basic supplies for your stay.

Sussex Inlet is the closest town and is only seven minutes away by car. Sussex Inlet is the home of the 'Ocean & Earth' factory outlet so you can grab a bargain as well. You can enjoy the RSL Club & its dining facilities or the Bowling Club Restaurant in Sussex Inlet. We have a Thai Restaurant, 'the Silver Spoon' as well. There is also a Fish & Chip shop, a Pizza place and a few Cafes one of which includes a gelato bar. For your serious grocery shop, Spar is located in the town.

If you want to venture further south, the beautiful townships of Milton & Ulladulla are 20-30 minutes away on the highway. If you prefer going north, Jervis Bay, renowned for scuba diving & whale watching & Nowra, with its regional services are only 30 minutes away.

Kirbys cottage was so cosy and spotless. The location is perfect, quiet and relaxing. The cottage is across the road from the beach which was so lovely. Kim is so attentive and available. A brilliant find and great value. Excellent base and o explore the south coast, will definitely return.

Stay at Kirby’s Beach
My husband and I had a pleasant stay. The cottage is small but clean & comfortable. It is located across the road from Kirby’s beach and within easy access to Berrara beach and the Cudmirrah cafe. There were so many choices of swimming, walking, bike riding to keep us busy or rest if we wished. The hosts were very welcoming.

Fantastic location close to beaches, rock platforms and bushwalks. Cottage has all that is needed to make meals and have a restful sleep. In addition there is an outside laundry and closeby line for wet swimmers and towels.

Gorgeous Stay at Kims Kirby Cottage
We enjoyed our weekend at Kirbys Cottage immensely! Lovely accommodation with all the facilities and what a fab shower..also the location is superb being just across the road from Kirbys Beach and in walking distance to the blessed Mermaid Rock Pools. At night we enjoyed hanging out in the garden having a BBQ, a chardy or 2 and welcoming the local kangaroos..thanks for having us dear Kim and Ross..all the very best

A beautiful cottage by the Ocean
This cottage is small and compact but has all that you need. The location is amazing, just across from a gorgeous pathway leading down to a pristine beach. Wildlife abounds and it is just so relaxing.

Fantastic Little Retro Cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It’s small, but super cute and had everything we needed. Anyone who likes a little heritage value, this cottage is for you! The town of Berarra is an absolute paradise, surrounded by beautiful waterways and bush land. And a flock of kangaroos reside in the streets there, which is quite a novelty. Be sure to visit the Cuddy Cafe, highly recommended. We also were invited to raid the fantastic vege garden of the property owners, and had a wonderfully fresh salad. The owners were very welcoming, as were the locals. I cannot recommend Berarra and Kirby’s Cottage highly enough.

Strategically located and comfortable place for a family of 5 to stay . We had kangaroos visiting the garden At night which my child really enjoyed watching . also there was prompt service by the owner when the hot water ran out . They replaced the gas bottle bottle within minutes after calling them .

Perfect short getaway
The property was all it advertised. 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom, kitchen and lounge room. But the location should get more of a talk-up. We were able to go from the property and be on a lovely uncrowded beach in 30 seconds. Priceless. Kim, was extremely helpful with places to go get fresh seafood. Brilliant host.

Lovely place right next to a gorgeous beach
Absolutely loved staying here! Being right next to Kirby’s beach was a lovely way to spend the morning and there are so many kangaroos around it’s a perfect little getaway. Kim is lovely and very accomodating, also the tiled floors are so cute we loved how the place is decorated. Couldn’t recommend more for a weekend away!

This cute little cottage was just perfect for a weekend stay. Very close to the beach, with a nice outdoor area and friendly kangaroos. The hosts were available if needed, and even though the cottage is in the backyard, it didn't feel awkward. We did have trouble connecting to the wifi though, so perhaps plan for an unplugged getaway :-)
