Not what we expected
Posted May 6, 2024 on HomeAwayThis is a very small rental and definitely not 3 bedrooms. The beds were ok, however the (extra) blankets were full of dust. The windows would not open. There was no activity field. There was no wood for a fire or fire starting utensils. The dishes were not clean. This was not a 5 star rental; which is what they asked people to give in the check out instructions.
The only thing that saved this rental was the comfortable couch and chair in the living room, the hot tub, and sauna.
If cleanliness or quality is what your looking for I would stay away from this rental.

Before I respond directly to her review, please be aware that this guest attempted to cancel their reservation within the non-refundable timeframe and when I stated I was unable to offer a refund, she requested to change the dates of their stay which I was fine with. Please view this guest’s review through that lens.
Regarding the condition of the property, I’m disappointed to hear of your concerns as you mentioned none of this during your stay with us. I just checked the windows and they do in fact open (those that are operational to open). It’s an older cabin so it may take a little push, but they do open. I did not see any blankets with dust on them but note all linens are washed after use.
I am not sure what you were referring to regarding the activity area, there’s a picture in the profile, it’s right down the little walk way. It’s no football field but it’s perfect for yard games, etc.
Regarding the dishes, We are on Well-water up here in the north country so sometimes the dishes get a little chalky, but they are clean. If that’s what you’re referring to. You weren’t specific.
I will look into stocking wood for guests. Most guests find wood in the forest right next to the fire ring but I have considered this in the past. There are matches in the cabin.
Sorry again you only had a 3 star stay with us as most don’t seem to have the issues you did. Best of luck and thanks again.

Skiing in sweatshirts!
Posted Mar. 18, 2024 on HomeAwayCame up to the UP for a weekend ski trip and this year despite the lack of snow had a good day of skiing at Snow River in sweatshirts! The campfire Lodge was perfect for our family of 6. The bedrooms are close together upstairs, which is fine for a family and great to have two bathrooms. The kitchen is very nice and the dining area was great for playing cards. Loved having a large sectional so we could all laugh about our day. We will definitely come back. Location is perfect at Powderhorn Village. Communication with Shawn was amazing. He responded twice to two of my questions, and very easy to deal with. five stars for him.

A winter trip to the U.P.

A little piece of heaven in the woods!

The washer and dryer were a wonderful extra especially with 3 boys
We loved the sauna and hot tub
The rooms and bathrooms were grrat too everyone had thier own space
This was probably one of my favorite vk rentals ever and im fussy
Thank you we will be back for our annual ski trip next year

Comfortable A-Frame near Big Powderhorn
Posted Jan. 6, 2024 on HomeAwayWe enjoyed our 3 day stay at this A-Frame cabin located less than a mile from Big Powderhorn. Check in was simple. Everything worked. Some of the kitchen items (pots, skillets, utensils, silverware, glassware) could be improved but overall a great stay!
