Luxury Devon holiday lodge situated close to Cornish border and beautiful sandy beaches, cliffs, coves, National Trust and other historic properties
Some of our favourites are Bude Canal which has excellent wheelchair and bike access, secluded Docton Mill Gardens and Tearooms, Speke Mouth with its spectacular waterfall, the beautiful Sandymouth to Bude 5km stretch of sandy beach at lower tides with magnificent cliffs and other rock formations and the wreck of the SS Belem, Clovelly with its steep lanes and harbour and of course all the inland attractions of Dartmoor, the Eden Project and the South coast secluded inlets.

This is our own family holiday residence (regret unsuitable for children under 7 years) and as such is fully equipped for a home-from-home experience.

Large attractive lounge/diner opening to spacious sun-deck with a quiet jacuzzi, plant pots, mature shrubs and views of surrounding countryside.
Two electric ovens, induction hob, grill, toaster, numerous appliances including smoothie-maker and food-processor. Enough crockery and cutlery for a small cafe (slightly reduced for COVID19 compliance)
Dishwasher, washer/tumble-dryer, fridge and 2 freezers.
Smart TV with DVD BluRay player, Bose radio CD with aux input for iPod
6-seater solid wood dining table and chairs, 2 large leather sofas plus armchair.
Breakfast bar with 2 stools.
Airing cupboard.
Inconspicuous retractable washing line.
Retractable screen for added privacy in the jacuzzi
Matching garden table/parasol/chairs/loungers/coaster with cushions
Spacious bedrooms have accommodation for the largest of clothes collections. Beds are extremely comfortable and have white, high thread count cotton/organic cotton sheets laundered with hypoallergenic washing materials. Duvets all hypoallergenic, new 2021, incorporating Summer-Winter functions. Master bedroom bed has integral TV unit with remote control, other bedroom also has smaller TV.
There is a supply of towels, including some beach, please bring your own doggy towels!
Wetsuit hooks over full-size bath. Separate large shower unit, sink and toilet all within the one room, which doubles as the doggy drying and sleeping area (waterproof dog bed supplied)
There is, nature-watching, private fishing and lead-walking around a picturesque jointly-owned lake at the bottom of the site and there is also a footpath, although in wet weather it can be muddy. There are numerous forest tracks a short road walk away which remain dry for walking and cycling.
The property is kept as low allergen as possible, especially regerding cigarette residue of any type, but note that dogs will have been present.
We use mostly organic, low-environmental impact, perfume-free cleaning products.
Due to COVID 19 regulations we use a disinfectant on high-use surfaces in addition to the usual cleaners but this is non- perfumed and pet-friendly. Bleach is banned due to the reed-bed waste processing. Dogs are required to be on a lead on the site and owners to poop-scoop. They are free to roam the enclosed sundeck which surrounds most of the two sides of the building.

Tranquil and relaxing retreat
If you love nature and a rural location with home comforts, you will love this log cabin. It’s spacious, modern, clean and very comfortable. The vendor has thought of everything you will need for a comfortable and relaxed stay. I was particularly pleased that the kitchen had a washing machine and dishwasher. The hot tub was amazing after a long day out exploring. The vendor was very helpful and communication was great. The location is very idyllic and close to Cornwall, there are beautiful beaches nearby and other interesting places to visit but you will need a car to explore. Thank-you Richard for a lovely stay and for being so helpful.

Relaxing break
A lovely relaxing break at “The Shed”. Nice and quiet location. The accommodation was home from home with everything you needed and more. Made very good use of the jacuzzi - warmed us up on the cooler ‘summer’ days ! Excellent and helpful communication from the hosts. Highly recommended.

It was perfect. We had very nice weather. A lots of beaches nearby, simpel but good food in the bush in. Ilfracombe , we had a fast boat experience. The house was perfect, enough material to cook. The hot tub was very nice. The chairs to lay doen in the garden where amazing! My husband loves the fishing.

Complete relaxation
The property is spacious and very clean , the beds were comfortable and the property had all the essentials needed + more . It is a very quiet location and all you will be able to hear are the birds and other wildlife . Its about a 20 minute drive from Bude which is a lovely seaside town with easy parking . The hot tub was a great addition and we used it every morning and night. This place is great for your dog too as they can be kept within the lodge area safely. We needed to see a vet out of hours and i can recommend the one listed in the welcome pack , they were pleasant and attentive, when dealing with us at 4am and the price was much cheaper than we would normally pay . Overall i would give our experience of staying here a comfortable 10/10

Lovely quiet retreat
Had a wonderful stay in this place. Very well equipped. Shower lovely and hot tub great, decking areas were lovely. In fact it was all pretty great, beds comfy, blankets duvet clean and new, loved it. Close by beach and good restaurants, just what we needed. Tiny lanes, which were great fun as we felt like we were really away from hustle and bustle of home, navigating our way to new areas of Devon and Cornwall. Thank yiu so much. Xx

Hartland Heaven!
Brilliant lodge stay with the added bonus of the hot tub on the decking! A true home from home, everything there including fast wifi and SMART TV with Firestick. Very clean and tidy, property was in super condition, comfortable beds, fluffy towels and always plenty of hot water. Only thing that we would change as 4 x adults is the living room seating arrangement by putting the 2 x sofas facing the TV on the wall and have the dining table near the patio doors, that way 4 people can sit and watch TV. We could have changed it ourselves, but didnt want to mark the carpet with the weight of the sofa feet! Other than that absolutely fabulous, will come and stay again if we can! Thank you for a lovely week.

Excellent family countryside get away with hot tub
Really well equipped lodge to high standard with excellent hot tub and bbq. Owners caring and responsive. Remote countryside/woodland setting with golf course and fishing lakes nearby. Not really that near to anything else but plenty of excellent day trips within 30-40 min drive. Stayed 1 week with children and had plenty to do. Thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend.

A welcoming, beautifully furnished lodge with everything you could need.
The lodge was a perfect getaway, home from home. It is nicely secluded from views of other lodges and in an ideal location to explore the beautiful area of North Devon. It was immaculate when we arrived and felt very comfortable. The hot tub was ideal after a days walking. Highly recommended.

Lovely, peaceful place
We have just returned from an amazing week at this property. The lodge has absolutely everything you need for your stay and Julie provided great local information, which was very useful as we had not stayed in this area before. The lodge is in a really good location and there is so much to do just on the doorstep. A meal at the Bush Inn is recommended - the food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly. The lodge was very comfortable, and we very much enjoyed a dip in the hot tub later on in the evening. We would like to thank Julie, as we had such a lovely time, and we would definitely return to this lodge!

Perfect for peace or access to beach activities
Communication was excellent and we were informed promptly on anything we needed. Accommodation was a great size and very peaceful, and very well equipped. If you follow the written instructions from the owner to find it, rather than relying on the sat nav, you’ll avoid all the little, narrow lanes. Several choices of beaches, villages and slightly larger towns to visit. Lovely place.

A gem of a lodge
The lodge was beautifully presented, all mod cons and well equipped for all our needs. It is much more spacious than the pictures suggest. The decking was large and although already feeling quite private due to large shrubs planted around the edge of it there was the added bonus of privacy screens available that could also be pulled across. The site is quiet and at first arrival seems off the beaten track down some winding country lanes (but in reality was actually only a few minutes drive to main A39 road) and as our weeks holiday went on returning to see the lodges sat on the hillside actually became part of its added charm. It was a pleasure to return to it after long days out walking/surfing/cycling and get into that wonderful hot tub. There are no amenities/facilities on site and so you should be prepared to drive for these but we didn’t mind as we found it to be a great location to be able to explore the areas of Devon we wanted to and we just picked up what we needed when we were out and about. Overall we had a fantastic stay in a fantastic lodge and the owners Julie and Richard were absolutely perfect hosts to deal with. Regular and clear communication and with a great welcome brochure provided (showing great personality) giving all details on the lodge that you could possibly need and made it feel like a home away from home. We sincerely hope to return x

Totally chilled holiday before Lockdown 2
Well what can I say...what a lovely space to relax and unwind with everything you could possibly need to hand. Communication with Julie was outstanding and any queries were delt with immediately. Comprehensive instructions for use of the facilities was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this tranquil spot to anyone.

Lovely lodge in quiet area
We very much enjoyed our week in the lodge. It is very well equipped, including comfy beds, all the kitchen utensils you might even imagine you could need and even some basic groceries and condiments. The Hartland Lodges are situated in a quiet are, which is just what we look for. We went on some spectacular walks closer to the coastline a short drive away, and enjoyed the dip in the hot tub on our arrival back to the lodge. We also went paddleboarding in Bude and had some great meals out in Bude and Appledore. Bideford is a 20min drive away and has plenty of shops, including a great baker who makes pasties fresh that morning. The owners are very helpful, should you encounter any snags, although the guidelines are very comprehensive. We hope to return.

Lovely lodge with all home comforts, great location and fab hot tub to relax in after a busy day. Peaceful fishing lake nearby - approximately 100 carp caught over the week ranging from 4lb - 18lb. Great time had by all in North Devon.

modern well stocked home with so many kitchen utensils/ gadgets and the place was clean, relaxing and cosy. hot tub was lovely and relaxing after a day out walking the dogs along the coastal paths. great location for exploring the north Devon/ corwall border and so tranquil in the lodge. pet friendly anf the instructions from the owners more than covered everything we needed to maximise our stay... We will be back :)

A lovely holiday for all the family
We had a fabulous holiday here with our 2 teenage daughters, which can be difficult trying to cater for teenagers and adults!! The girls loved the hot tub and is was great to sit on the decking and relax as a family. Covid 19 made holidaying more difficult so it was great to have a superbly decorated and well equipped 'home' to return to. Julie and Richard were great hosts and were available if we needed them. If you're travelling with your furry friends it is really well equipped. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

This property was perfect for four of us. Very clean and well equipped. The hot tub was amazing- lovely to come back to after long walks and body boarding. Property in a very peaceful location but just a short drive to some wonderful places. Slept really well as comfortable beds, pitch black and silent. I would definitely recommend this property
