The babbling brook!
Publié le 21 août 2024 sur HomeAwaySpent 2+ weeks here. Our 7 y.o. grandson had his first fishing experience in the river. We loved the quiet, solitude, wildlife, dark skies and the wonderful murmur of Little White Salmon river in the background.
The house had plenty of room for the 5 of us on weekends, and during the quiet weekdays it was nice to stretch out.
It is about a 25 minute drive into the city of White Salmon. There's a local grocery store there that will have pretty much everything you need, and after shopping have lunch at the bakery which has wonderful sandwiches.
We didn't want to leave!
Brent is a wonderful host, he was great for suggesting local activities and filling us in on the history of Willard.

Hidden oasis
Publié le 26 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayBeautiful private location. The calming view of the stream was amazing. We got to observe a family of deer outside the property during breakfast. Host was easy to contact. Star link internet was great.

Out in the Wild Woods
Publié le 27 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayWe’ve loved being out and away from everything and this spot was just perfect… love having the windows open at night to listen to the river, flow and birds sing in the morning. Didn’t mind the drive into Hood River or into Washington Wineries as it kind of gave us a central point for both. Brent was wonderful to deal with as a property manager/owner and answered my questions in a very, very timely manner.

Home in a Beautiful "Campground" Setting
Publié le 23 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayThis spotlessly clean home is set far off the road in a woodland setting along a river. The large windows and light-colored wood make the home feel bright and cheery even on overcast days.
The kitchen is well-supplied with nice cook ware and there is plenty of seating at the dining table. Our family (3-year old grandson, son/daughter-in-law, ourselves) had plenty of comfortable private and shared space. The home could easily accommodate more using a day-bed upstairs and fold-out couch in the living area. For those who want to stay connected, WiFi and the satellite TV work great.
No fancy deck or lawn, but that was the charm for us... just natural. There are two campgrounds very close by with trails to explore. We also checked out the alpaca farm - very fun and interesting. We came for some springer fishing, and the home is within 20 minutes of the launches. Plenty of parking area for a boat and trailer. The Gorge offers all kinds of adventure!
Brent is a great host. Check in/out instructions timely and clear. We also appreciated hearing about area history, places to check out, the home-building process. I gave the accuracy listing 4 stars instead of 5 simply because the pictures don't do the home justice :)
Our grandson summed it up best when he rolled into his driveway: "Noooo! Back to the 'cation house with gramps and grams!"

Comfort in the forest
Publié le 17 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, comfortable home in the forest. It rained 2 of the 4 days we were there, but that made a nice excuse to relax in an armchair next to the amazing windows with a book and a mug of tea. The driveway is roughly 1/3 mile long, which makes a nice daily stroll. We loved seeing the skunk cabbage and pacific dogwood in bloom. We also enjoyed exploring the area, per Brent's recommendations. Brent is a kind, friendly host and we are grateful to have had this time in Willard!
