Bad experience

A very unpleasant experience, beside the kindness of the staff (on the efficiency, let’s skip) and the free parking. The structure is old and has been refurbished, but not too weel. The room is very humid and if you need an adaptor for electricity it is available…but you have to pay 4 GBP and buy it!!! The room itself loses a lot of space with a very long desk along all one wall. Two large chairs do not allow to pass correctly around the bed. Do you want internet? Sometimes it works, a lot of times not and there are no convenient areas around the neighbourhood for at least 2 miles. And if they send someone to your room to repair, they make the mistake to go to another room. Are you using the toilet? Not too much please because the water flush is not working very well, actually AT ALL. You have to open it, throw a lot of water and repair it yourself! Then, do you need an early wake-up call? No problem. The workers in the nearby lot will start at 6.30 helping you to start your day in a perfect mood!!! By the way, in case you have heavy luggage it is all your problem: not even a person opening the door for you. Last but not least, no one is cleaning the room in the morning or in the afternoon. If you complain, they send someone…but this person leaves a dirty and wet rag near to your laptop.

Very handy for someone who works around the university. The rooms don't all have all the same confort or freshness of the decoration but all are cleaned.

We were extremely disappointed when the property was viewed on hotels.com the majority of photos used are that of the main hotel. Admittedly we got an email explaining that our accommodation was not in the main building, but we did not expect to be staying in student accommodation. On arrival to the external accommodation the lift was not working, then when we plugged in our phone charger rhe electrics blew. The shower over flowed when being used as the drainage was extremely poor and the facilities extremely dated. There was no literature or information showing menus, restaurant and bar opening times local buses, taxi numbers etc.. The general cleanliness was poor carpets were stained and fixtures and fittings dated back to the ninetys.

Was fine, room was not brilliant, but good. Bar/restaurant was good. Just wish we had been told that the annex we were in was more or less empty, as we put the car in the large car park, to walk across the road to find one car in the car park, and am it was raining. But would recommend.

Room, food and location were good. Reception staff were poor. Getting info on parking arrangements was like drawing teeth. Paid for 2 rooms but when my friend went to check in an hour later, he was told he hadn't paid. No apology was given when proof of payment shown later. Paid for 2 breakfasts each when checking in but on arriving at restaurant each morning no record of booking on list and had to show card payments to staff member who was very good. Time to sharpen up your act me thinks.

The room was a good size but the bathroom a little small. Good location for Edgbaston Cricket ground (bout 20/25 minute walk). Staff at reception on check in, polite & helpful. Shops/restaurants about a 20 minute walk away.
