Room was very basic. Building felt abandoned and clearly needs renovating. It was also very noisy.

Lovely grounds and very attractive reception area. Room was clean, kettle was provided with tea and coffee and there was a modern TV but no Netflix etc. Bed was OK but quite firm. The rooms are not serviced daily however and you have to ask at reception for clean towels etc. Free wifi is available in public areas only (it is weak in rooms but premium wifi is available at £7 per device per day). Breakfast is good (if you like a cooked breakfast - there is no continental-style buffet), and there is a carvery for evening meals, which is OK but not exceptional. Overall it was good value but could be improved.

Well priced, good location if a little tired

Nice coffee machine in the room and fridge with water bottles was a nice touch. Tried the spa facilities and was relaxing although a little tired.

Cross between Fawlty Towers and The Shining. No hot water. Mattress was uncomfortable. Rooms smelled fusty.
Outdoors was okay and back in the 80s it was probably a decent hotel. Doesn't look like there has been any upgrades or refurbishment since that era.
