This cosy, characterful and professionally interior designed house is perfectly set in the heart of the beautiful heritage town of Birr. It is a perfect little hideaway tucked away in a quiet owners only access lane.. Accomodation includes two generously sized bedrooms, one on-suite, and 2 other bathrooms, an open plan living dining amd kitchen and a seperate laundry room. Furninshings include both antique and contemporary furniture. A sweet little terrace in the front courtyard with a bistro set completes the picture.
Stroll around this haven of elegant Georgian architecture and explore the splendour of Birr castle demesne and science center seconds from your door. The massive telescope built by the 3rd Earl of Rosse can be seen in the grounds, while the colorful restaurants and pubs of the town, along with the quaint local theatre are minutes away.
The area is the perfect location to explore the splendour of the Slieve Bloom mountains on foot or bicycle, the ancient site of Clonmacnoise founded in 544, the beauty of the river shannon with its suberb opportunities for angling and boating, and marvel at the extraordinary nature of the sculptures in Lough Boora parklands. Golf, horse back riding and tennis are available locally.
Birr towns central location makes it the ideal base to explore Ireland, being just 90 minutes away from both Dublin and Galway, 60 minutes from Kilkenny and the Rock of Cashel. Great location
Loved this little duplex. The space was nice, and fireplace was a nice touch. Highly recommend you walk down the road to Kelly's. Bir Castle grounds are an easy walk away, and well worth an afternoon.

Second stay
We stayed for the second time at this house. It made for a nice location to host a birthday party for our 2-year-old grandson. The house is comfortable and supplied better than many properties with bathroom and kitchen amenities. The location could not be more convenient to town and the castle.

A hidden gem
We loved the home. It worked really well for 6 people and the property manager was very helpful and responsive. A little bit of a challenge to find the house as it was down a narrow lane but well worth it.

mixed results
The location is lovely with quiet surroundings, and is inexpensive. However, we encountered several problems. Upon walking into the unit it was apparent that only the middle of the floors were swept. Dirt, not just dust, hair clods, food particles, etc. were noticeable in every room. The door leading onto the patio was inoperable. Several light bulbs needed replacing. The washer/dryer did not function correctly. The washer worked if the door was shut just so, but the dryer did not work at all and we had to take wet laundry to the outside laundromat behind the grocery store. The owner does not live in Ireland, but did agree to refund the cleaning deposit and did so in a timely manner.
