Room for Everyone
Publié le 14 août 2024 sur HomeAwayHigh Rock Haven provided plenty of space for all 10 of us. The furnishings, including the beds and pillows, are very comfortable and attractive. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious, and we enjoyed many meals inside and out. Our favorite things include the rocking chairs and swing, fire pit, long distance view, bunnies on the lawn, games, tire swing and creek, and the copper rain chains.
On nearby day trips we went to Sliding Rock, white water rafting, Biltmore, Folk Art Center, and flyfishing. We browsed and ate our way through Black Mountain and sampled the beer at Old Fort.
The roads into the property were easily passable, even in my little economy rental. We suggest that the driving instructions should be updated to include the High Rock Rentals sign at the entrance.
Our host, Mike, was reliably responsive and hospitable. When a plumbing leak was detected on our check-in day, Mike and staff scrambled to get everything ship shape in no time. When I informed him that an unforeseen new puppy showed up with one family, Mike graciously let me know where the puppy supplies were located. The complimentary bottle of wine was welcome and appreciated!
I would like to return someday in the Fall for the color and Spring for the rhododendrons that surround the property. This cabin would be a marvelous getaway any time of year.

Yes, the fall colors are spectacular with the long range mountain views of Mt. Mitchell ( highest peak east of the Mississippi ). We hope you can make it back sooner than later!

Highrock Haven
Publié le 9 janv. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe location was beautiful as were the grounds and the outside of the home. We were so delighted to see the decorated Christmas tree. It was beautiful. The home suited our needs as there were three floors. So we had plenty of space.
We brought all our food for the week so we could stay home and relax. Unfortunately, this was not a cook's kitchen. There was minimum knives and forks and other utensils and the items to use for cooking were very old and cheap. Even though we bring cleaning supplies, there were not the proper supplies to clean the top of the stove. The kitchen area was very tight and lacking good counter space. The cabinets were greasy.
Also lacking were lamps on more tables in the bedroom areas so, it was a bit dark. The lamp in the master on the bottom floor was broken, so we had to take a lamp from another area to see.
The shower on the bottom floor broke and water shot out all over the top of the shower. This was our last day so we left notices about this in the book.
Since we did bring pets, I always clean the floors by vacuuming and wiping down tile and wood floors. Doing this I found out that the floors (including staircases) had not been cleaned before we arrived. There was so much dust and my swifter pads were very dirty. Luckily, I also wipe down before we leave and left the house much cleaner than when we arrived.
My only suggestion would be that this home needs some updating and cleaning inside to go with the location and price.

Not sure if you are talking about the same house! SHOCKING TO HEAR!! We just finished upgrading ( one month ago ) the kitchen to new BIG BEAUTIFUL granite counter tops, new kitchen sink, new kitchen faucet, new range and dishwasher. New bathroom counter tops, new bathroom sinks and faucets, new lighting fixtures in the kitchen brand new leather recliner couches, new lamps on ALL of the end tables in ALL bedrooms. We recently spent over $100k in upgrades and for guests not to see it is mind boggling and frustrating!......To bring your own cleaning supplies to any house speaks for itself! To be clear and transparent, the home was in immaculate condition as I cleaned the floors on my hands and knees ( before guests arrived ) after the entire home was thoroughly mopped. Not sure where you saw grease on the kitchen cabinets, but NONE was found before guests arrived or after guests checked out......Not only were we not told of any of theses issues, we were not told of the shower head at all so communication from guests was non existent during their stay. To let us know well after they checked out is unacceptable to us. The shower head has been replaced with a brand new one. Still trying to figure out how the original one broke, since we were not told of it....Anyhow, we take this very seriously and take our cleanliness very seriously and we only hope you got this home mixed up with another home that you possibly stayed at. To put in directly, we have never had any complaints ( like these ) in the entire 18 years of the home...BTY, the rates were already discounted during that week.

Beautiful spot in NC!
Publié le 7 sept. 2023 sur HomeAwayWhat a beautiful place to stay! We were there 5 nights with 2 families and we had plenty of space. The kids loved the downstairs room w/ ping pong, movies, and an arcade game. Adults loved relaxing in the hot tub overlooking the mountains. We also spent time at the SWEET tire swing (follow the directions to find it - it isn't on the immediate property, but is close by and you have access to it anytime). The property manager was GREAT to work with. We enjoyed being at the property as well as exploring the surrounding Blue Ridge Mtns and Asheville. The yard at the property is a lovely rolling hill - I mistakenly thought it was a flat yard (for kicking a ball, etc), but we found many other ways to enjoy the outdoor space. We found it great for our 2 families!

Yes, plenty to do on the grounds as there are 25 acres to explore, especially the bold creek, hiking trails, the tire swing, big front yard, and of course the well maintained hot tub over looking the view of Mt. Mitchell! The home is in the mountains and there is not too many places that are flat, but the well maintained front yard does have a slight incline and many kick ball games and other games have been played there with no issues over the years. You are definitely not in the city here!

Beautiful place to reunite with old friends and family

Perfect house. Internet photos don’t lie with this listing. You will not be disappointed.

Publié le 23 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwayThe house and views were amazing. Our car had trouble getting up the long, steep gravel hills but Mike met us and helped us up within minutes. Our family enjoyed the hot tub, property trails and the game room. We would definitely stay again.

Thank you for the 5 star review! Two wheel drive works fine on the gravel roads and the bumpy part is only a few hundred feet, and it does get graded every 10 days. Happy to hear you would like to return!
