Grade 2 star (or 1?) Listed building, Victorian. The cons - it should cost a lot to maintain. Facilities would appreciate modernising. Would like to see tge gym reopening. The pros - safe parking is great where it only takes 15 min walk to Tower. Food and restaurant are much better than other places. Feel in here. Staff helpful.

Decent enough

Last minute booking but the reception was deserted when I got there. After a few minutes, someone came out to check me in. Quick easy check in, and was handed an alarm pad in case a fire alarm evacuation happen during my visit. Blue light flashing every minute was very annoying though, suppose it's better than suffocating with the smoke inhalation. Breakfast I was seated very quickly, and there was a big selection of hot and cold food, cereals, pastries, fry ups etc. Toast does get slightly burnt though, as the toaster has only two settings, burn on top and barely touched on the bottom. Ah well.

Horrendous check in waited in the queue for 1hour and 10 minutes only one person checking all the guests in. No worthwhile apology was offered just a biscuit yes a biscuit. Duty manager was not helpful at all and was just dismissing everyone who was complaining. I asked him for the managers contact information and he just ignored me. We were with our 2 year old grandson which made matters worse. Totally unacceptable experience.

Reception very slow,only one member of staff. Rooms very clean but tired,dated and need upgrading. Breakfast very good and courteous,well staffed personnel. Dining room lovely looks like it has been upgraded. Rest of hotel need similar treatment. Area around hotel rather run down. Car park charge seemed excessive considering one was staying as guest.

Could do much better.

The Imperial is such a lovely building but unfortunately over time, the building is becoming tired. My window in the bedroom wasnfully closed but yet I could still hear what was going on outside a.d even after being told that i wont be near the delivery bay. I could still here trolleys being wheeled around on the concrete outside. On the Tuesday, the fire alarm went off twice. I was woken up by a chamber maid who came into my room and I had only been in their one day. Not ny best stay at the Imperial.

Not great

This hotel is a beautiful building in disrepair, our first room was so dirty, polite manager agreed and moved us, this room had a broken window which we couldn’t shut! Room service barely made bed, didn’t hoover in four nights etc. very dated. The breakfast buffet was great and all staff friendly and doing their best.
