Nice little property

Clean and cute building next to main home. Felt very cozy, could walk down to the main part of town though it was a bit of a walk. Generally quiet though some noise from the main home woke us up in the evening.

Escape to a Cabana

John's cabana was just perfect. The location is well-situated to the beach, shopping, and food. The views are amazing from this location. The unit was clean and had everything I needed. I would only add some birch to the seashells. 😉 John is a very hospitable host and very kind. He gave great suggestions for places to eat that did not disappoint. I would stay here again if I am ever up this way! Thank you, John!!

DO NOT STAY HERE

I have never had such an awful experience as I did with this property, and I will never book through VRBO again now that I have experienced what passes for customer support with them. The listing does not make clear that there is NO bathroom, or even a sink, in the guest room. The room could actually be described as more of a shed, and certainly not a "cabana." The bathroom is in the main house next to the shed. The host (John) sent a message through VRBO with the code to get into the main house, but none of my attempts to use it when I arrived were successful, so I had no access to the bathroom. I got to the property at 9:30pm, and when I couldn't get into the house, I attempted to contact John first through VRBO messaging, then by texting his direct number, then by calling his direct number, and then by ringing the doorbell on the main house. I received no response that evening. In the morning I knocked on the door and was let in by some person who wasn't the host, and when I explained that the code wasn't working, she said she had trouble with it the previous night as well. After twelve hours had passed with no response whatsoever from John, I contacted VRBO customer support. They did absolutely nothing to help me. I am shocked and infuriated at the treatment I received from both the host and VRBO. They clearly have no interest in seeking accountability from the people who list on their platform.

I have apologized to Meridith repeatedly that the locks gave her trouble. Meridith arrived quite late and I was asleep when she contacted me about the lock issues she had so I did not get back to her until the next morning. She was, however, able to access both spaces despite the trouble she described to me. So I left several messages for her that I would meet her here and help troubleshoot whatever was causing the problem. She did not respond to my messages. A day went by and after sending more messages her stay ended. Only after she checked out did she express her problems to me and at that point there was nothing I could do. I have apologized numerous times, made offers to redress the situation for her but instead Meridith prefers to revisit the situation rather than move forward. I do regret she had the problems she had in the past but I can only solve a problem in the present. I do wish she had given me the chance to do so.

May Stay

Everything was nice. The bed was very comfortable and room was supplied with everything as listed. It was a little inconvenient to leave the room to go to the main house to use bathroom but it was close to the front door. The bathroom was ok for cleanliness and maybe because it was shared with those in the main house. There was a small amount of ants by the microwave and could be because of open sugar in the drawer below microwave. Otherwise overall it was quiet and comfortable, what I was looking for

Thank you for staying Christine. Ah - Those Ants! We battle those little things up here constantly in the summer. You are correct if there was sugar left in the drawer they were going after it. I cleaned the drawer and placed an ant trap to stop them but it is a constant battle everywhere in this area no matter how clean you keep things they will find the smallest speck of food. Yours is a good reminder to keep ant traps fresh in the space.

Don't stay here

This property is very misrepresented. There is no water at all in the place. The bathroom is shared with the male homeowner. His dog is "grumpy", his words. And after investigating more reviews has actually bit a guest twice. There are no views like it says. DO NOT stay here.

It is unfortunate that there are guests who choose to slander and malign hosts and their listings simply to avoid paying.. Two weeks after staying and having no questions or complaints whatsoever this individual filed a chargeback with her bank to get her money returned. Her claim was rejected. Just as it was by VRBO. This make-believe review is the only documentation she had to support her chargeback claim. She said nothing while she stayed here. I am not going to respond to the patently false claims - all one needs to do is look at the pictures and read the listing to know what is happening here. It is unfortunate that some people simply do not want to pay for services that were rendered to them and take a dishonest approach to getting what they want. If you are a host I would recommend you think twice before hosting this individual.

The cabana was a nice little place to stay the night, and a short walk and got to see a beautiful sunset over the bay!
