Our home is located inside the Grandfather Golf and Country Club resort. Our home's warm interior provides a casual but upscale space to relax. Upon entering, you will find large widows and sliding glass doors giving a 180 degree northwesterly view offering beautiful evening sunsets. Relax on the deck with a loved one and a beverage of your choice and watch the sun disappear behind the mountains. Sitting high off ground, the home has an open, yet very private feel.
The main floor features: A private master suite with a king size bed, cedar walls and a full bath. A second bedroom with a king size bed and its own full bath with a double vanity. An open fully-loaded kitchen. An elegant dining room with mountain, woodland view. A spacious living room with large leather couches around an enormous two-story stone fireplace with a 55” HD TV over the mantle.
Left of the fire place is a beautiful iron spiral staircase which accesses upstairs bedrooms and a balcony. The balcony has a quaint, comfy reading chair, office area and TV. We provide wired high speed internet in the office and a router for wireless hookup anywhere in the house. The two bedrooms, each with two twin beds, share a large, full bath with a double sink vanity.
As a private and exclusive resort, the Grandfather Golf and Country Club changed its rules for 2017. VRBO renters can no longer obtain guest privileges to use the amenities of the Club.
For the winter season, our mountain getaway is perfectly located to enjoy the best of the North Carolina's ski slopes. We are a ten minute drive to Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, twenty minutes from Beech Mountain Ski Resort and twenty minutes from snow tubing and the zip line at Hawksnest Resort. There are many places to cross country ski or just take a leisurely walk nearby.
McRea Meadows, home of the famous Highland games, is only a few miles away. If you are feeling adventurous, you can hike the Profile Trail and climb the majestic peaks of Grandfather Mountain. Of course, it's much easier to drive to the Mile High Swinging Bridge at the top of Grandfather Mountain which has many of the same views. If you are a backpacker or just want to hike for a day, the Appalachian Trail passes about ten miles away.
If you have children, you will want to visit Mystery Hill, the Gem Mine or the popular Tweetsie Railroad for memorable family fun. Enjoy good food from a vast array of nearby restaurants. Don’t forget to stop in the Mast General Store on the way home to satisfy a sweet tooth craving. There are too many amazing places in close proximity to list!
With unparalleled quality and comfort, this is the perfect place for family fun or some peaceful and very private relaxation. The home will warm your soul in any season and make your vacation a wonderful and memorable experience.
