Be aware that the checkout time is 10am, which is absurd given that most are either 11 or 12. I called asking for a later time because the event we were on the island for didn’t begin until noon. I was met with an attitude of “I’m doing you a favour” by Julia who eventually agreed to 11am. I will definitely be back to Bowen but not to stay here for $441 CAD/night!

Oh my, Bridgette...I'm not sure where things went sideways. You would have been given the checkout information at least 12 days before your stay date...You phoned me a few hours before checkout to ask if you could check out late....I took a few moments to look at our day and see if I could accommodate a last minute request, and then realized I could offer you another hour. That normally would not work with such short notice, as staff have already planned their arrival time. But it worked out and it was not a problem. As for a 10am checkout, I have stayed in many places myself that have that as a checkout time. We do get requests for late checkouts and we accommodate where we can, so there is some flexibility there.We hope everything else worked out for you on Bowen Island.

Room with a view

I stayed in the Cypress Room - which had picture windows with a beautiful view of the cove. The room was large with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was upscale- especially the shower. There was a small refrigerator and a Nespresso machine was available and well stocked. The only issue was that the room is only serviced every 3 days, which I did not expect. The housekeeping staff, when I did speak to them were always pleasant and it was easy to get additional supplies by texting the owners. Another issue that made me feel less comfortable was a warning re: not using a white towel to wipe up spills and an extra charge if you eat on the bed. These messages seemed a bit threatening and made me more apprehensive than I usually feel in a hotel.

Thank you Dr. Paul for taking the time to review us. We're glad you enjoyed the comfy bed and shower. As for the cleaning, we service the room every two days. We originally stock the room with plenty of supplies for 2 days, but guests can always message us if they want more things. I think we had some confusion with your room as we made two unplanned visits and thought you were supplied for the following days. Our mistake and apologies for that. As per your other points, we do leave an info sheet in our rooms, which we find to be rather standard in many accommodations. We just like to remind people to be mindful of noise after hours, and to treat our linens a they would their own. Most people know this, but sadly there are a few guests that don't see the issue with eating BBQ Chicken on a white duvet, hence the reminder on the info sheet that our property should be taken care of by the guest. We certainly didn't intend it to be threatening.
