Romantic Private Lake Como Cottage with breathtaking 180-degree lake view

This romantic stand-alone cottage offers stunning views and a private garden, ideal for rest and relaxation.

PROPERTY:
The first floor, with stone tile flooring and exposed wood beams, has a living area with a cushioned bench, a full kitchen, and a large terrace.
An outdoor table can be set up on the terrace for al-fresco dining.

The second floor has hardwood flooring, a slanted wood-beamed cathedral ceiling, and a large French window opening onto a cute little terrace.
There is one bedroom with an Italian "matrimoniale" bed (in between queen and king size, 163 cm/64"), and a bathroom with a bidet and shower.

PARKING:
There is no private parking at the property, but the little town has plenty of free public parking throughout. Depending on the time of day you may find one very close to the house, or a short walk away, at most a few hundred yards.
It has never been an issue for our guests.

FOOD/DINING:
This is a self-catering property - you will need to bring your own provisions or eat out.

Brienno is a very small town - it only has one great pizzeria and one upscale restaurant. However, in the town next door, Argegno, there is a lovely bakery, a small fruit/vegetable store, and a small grocery store.
For supermarkets, we recommend the Bennet supermarket in Como, or a good mid-sized supermarket in Lenno, both about 15 minutes away.
Mon-Thurs 7.30 am to 9 am there is a food truck with bread, cheeses, cold cuts, etc.

We have compiled a thorough list of many restaurant recommendations in the area, which you will receive upon booking.

GETTING HERE:
The Milan airports are both 40 min away.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND RENTING A CAR because public transportation options are few and far between. No Uber or taxis. There are limited dining and grocery options within walking distance.

WHAT TO DO:
- Ideal a starting point for visiting the entire Lake region, with dozens of pretty towns.
- It is very close to Laglio (George Clooney's Villa) and to Cernobbio, with their fine restaurants.
- Boat-tours stop at the world-famous villas and their botanical gardens.
- Day trips to Como and Milan with their art and culture, restaurants, and shopping (designer outlets, silk scarves, and ties) are a must.

SEJOUR LAC DE CÖME
Logement parfait pour passer une beau séjour dans cette région. Très belle vue sur le lac , et très bien situé pour prendre les bateaux et visiter tout le lac. Malheureusement nous n'avions pas assez de temps pour tout faire, on reviendra .......

Une adresse exceptionnelle
Une très belle adresse à retenir : maison de charme tout confort au panorama sublime (qui se mérite ...au bout d'un escalier d'accès assez escarpé ) et très bien localisée pour rayonner dans le coin. Vue exceptionnelle sur le lac de Côme !
Magnifique séjour dans cette location, avec un accueil très chaleureux de Carmen et de sa fille. Le chalet est très mignon, très bien équipé et dispose d'une vue imprenable sur le lac. Idéal pour des vacances en amoureux ! Un seul petit bémol: la difficulté de stationner aux abords du chalet mais il est possible de prendre le bus ou le bateau et de très belles balades ou randonnées sont accessibles à Brienno ou dans les villages voisins.

Although the steps up to the house are no joke, once you get up and see the views(day, night, it doesn’t matter, they’re all fantastic) you’d climb it all over again. We were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine and a pristine and lovely house that had everything we could need. Don’t miss the pizza down the street as it was also delicious. Our host, Lilia, was extremely responsive and friendly. She really wanted to make sure we had a lovely time. Brienno is very tiny, but close to many other places to visit in your time there. Or, just stay in and spend your entire time in the garden or on the balcony!

Incredible view in a historic, peaceful location.
The host was incredibly friendly and communicative. Directions to the rental were very detailed. Restaurant recommendations and information about the area were handy. If you want an authentic Lake Como experience in a quiet area, this is the place for you. Our favorite place was the balcony, sipping on local Prosecco. Yes, there are steep steps to the villa and you need to be fit to navigate them. We appreciated the exercise to work off the extra calories! We are in our 70’s and managed them well. Would stay there again in a heartbeat because the villa made our stay memorable.

Incredible stone cottage with the best view!
We had such an amazing stay, absolutely loved having a balcony AND a terrace with perfect views of Lake Como and the charming tiny town of Brienno. There truly is no comparison with Brienno, it’s much sleepier than the busier touristy towns on the fabulous lake, yet has a lot of conveniences, like the morning food truck selling insanely cheap and delicious homemade bread, local cheeses and charcuterie! The best pizza we had in Italy was nearly next door and the fancier restaurant had incredible pasta. We loved the beach bar where we could get a perfect Cappuccino, soda, drink or snack and swim in the lake! The cottage itself has everything we required and was a perfect home base. We had steeled ourselves for the many stairs but truly they were not that bad! We had a bit of struggle with the trash (5 bins but only 2 with bags and a bit confusing for us) but the host was super quick and responsive and helped us get it right. Highly recommend this place.

We could not have been happier with the stay. It is true there are 88 stairs to get to the chalet but a small price to pay for the unbelievable view from the porch and balcony. A beautiful, beautiful place
Chalet Lilia is simply the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in. I'm reticent to go into more detail, because I'd love to go back again sometime, and fear that it will be booked solid. Beyond the beauty, there is a sense of going back in time, but with the conveniences of today. The pictures don't lie: it's all that and more. Yes, there are a lot of steps, but it's certainly doable (we are a couple in our 60s and 70s). Lilia and Carmen are conscientious in swiftly handling any issues that may come up, and offer plentiful information and tips in order to optimally enjoy your stay. I think whoever stays here will feel very fortunate, as my husband and I certainly did! Thank you, Lilia and Carmen!

Private Lake Como Cottage "Villa Lilia"
We recently stayed at Villa Lilia in Brienno, Lake Como. All reviews of the villa are totally correct! My wife and I were able to stay four wonderful nights. All the pictures in the listing at true and accurate. Lovely place with fabulous views looking across the lake at Nesso (from the bedroom balcony). The owner was "very" prompt in replying to our emails and questions. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Follow all the written directions from Lilla (after receiving your booking confirmation) and you can't make a mistake driving to Brienno. GPS works great. Also, I contacted the owner about boat rentals for Lake Como. Several options were provided. We prebooked our boat with the Turati Family and that experience was flawless. They are located very near by in the village of Argegno. Seeing the lake while on your private rental is a must! I will also be posting a review on their web site. www.rentaboat turati.com

Lake Como Chalet
Chalet Lilia exceeded our expectations. Clean, comfortable, and the views are amazing. Brienno is a very quiet and peaceful town. Took the ferry to Bellagio which was beautiful but very crowded, couldn't to get back to Brienno.

Beautiful Property and Location
My husband and I recently stayed at Chalet Lilia for the second time. Our first stay was five years ago and we had dreamed since then of staying again. We were not disappointed! The property was just as we remembered: charming, beautiful, nestled in a quiet little town, and close to plenty of sites to see and activities to do. Our first visit was in summer. This time we visited in winter, but we stayed warm and cozy. Since it seemed water recreation was shut down for the season, we instead did quite a bit of hiking around the lake. There are lots of trails/options right near Chalet Lilia (and around the whole lake). We also saw some fabulous New Year's fireworks in Como. We did a lot of cooking during our stay. There are a few options for groceries within 20 minutes' drive and the kitchen was well equipped. We did make it out for some delicious pizza at a place just down the steps though. We will be back to Chalet Lilia again!
