Booking confirmed and paid in full, but no room!

I showed them an email from hotels.com showing the booking was confirmed and paid in full. After 20 minutes and a lot of determination from my husband, they gave us a room booked to someone else whose card was not accepted! I hope those people didn't turn up looking for a room.

Reception staff were great and very friendly, especially with our daughter. The room itself had a distinct urine smell, there were stains all over the carpets and chair. The bath tub had what appeared to be urine droplets inside. Unfortunately had to check out early due to unsatisfactory cleanliness.
