Worst hotel possible

Publié le 4 août 2024 sur Hotels
Hotel well situated but otherwise awful service. Stay away there are much better hotels just next door. A hot room, window broken, old squashed coffee and tea sachets, an archaic fixed shower button we couldn’t use. Unfriendly staff except the car guys and Delia on the desk. A trainee girl who just wants money but has zero client attitude just a hypocritical smile. We went for off site parking because there is no encouragement so you have to precook elsewhere. In actual fact the two guys looking after the car park are the only two humans I met there! Leaving on Saturday 3rd we were not even told all the roads would be closed all day. We luckily found out ourselves and had to bale out without breakfast before seven. Absolutely no interest in their clients. I asked if we could bring our car to their empty garage the night before so we could get off quicker. The answer was no of course. In a unique situation you should make an effort for your clients. Anyway apart from the situation it’s decrepit and apparently just run by money makers with clients as just numbers. Breakfast is low quality bacon sausage etcetera Go out and into the lanes! Our room was to the side and as other reviewers said it is constantly noisy all night with hotel deliveries next door. Find something else!

Dear Anne,Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are very sorry to hear that we fell short of your expectations and that your experience was not a positive one.As Brighton’s most historic hotel, with a history spanning 464 years, we face unique challenges in maintaining our facilities. Whilst we appreciate that our traditional nature is not to everyone’s taste, we do endeavour to keep the building maintenance in good order as much as we are able. Please be assured that I have noted your comments and will be ensuring they are addressed by the relevant departments as quickly as possible. We hope you keep in contact with us so we may be able to improve your next stay with us.Kind regardsNick BagshawDuty Manager

The hotel was old and in need of refurbishment. The room were clean and bed comfortable but the bathroom very old. The shower was very difficult to turn off and taps needed a strong hand to turn on and full close. Our room looked over the sea but also over the main road and bar. As the room did not have air conditioning, the window was slightly opened to allow the room to cool down. As a result, arguments in the street and early morning bin men/cleaners made a lot of noise and caused a disturbed nights sleep

Dear James,Thank you for sharing a review of your recent experience. We apologise that your experience was less than ideal. We pride ourselves on keeping our traditional building in good maintenance order as much as we are able. Still, the high traffic in our 154 rooms does often mean waiting our turn for updating certain areas. For that reason, we have cleaning and maintenance staff on well into the evening and a manager on site 24hrs a day so they can address any immediate issues our guests report. Before replying, I had passed the details to our maintenance department who have since fixed the faults.Myself, and my team, go to great lengths to try and ensure all our guests enjoy their stay with us although there are some things we cannot control, and outside noise is unfortunately one of those things. We are very lucky to be situated on Brighton’s seafront. As unparalleled as it is though, we are in a city which offers as much nightlife as day life and so silence at night can never be guaranteed. Whilst we can certainly do our best to control internal noise, what happens off the premises is a little more difficult for any hotel along the Kings Road to control. Still, I am sorry it had such an impact on your stay.Plans have been approved by Brighton City Council & various historical trusts for The Old Ship Hotel to undergo a major renovation (full details & dates to be confirmed).Perhaps sometime in the future, when the hotel has undergone some refurbishment, you might consider giving us another try.Kind regardsNick BagshawDuty Manager

Dear Lars,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re delighted to see that you had a positive experience overall. We are Brighton’s most historic hotel (dating back 464 years) and, as I am sure you will appreciate, that comes with its challenges. We are proud of our history, which is displayed throughout the building, although we are not blind to the fact that a building like ours needs continual investment to be able to maintain current market expectations. Although we have not enjoyed this investment in our recent past, we are expecting it to be forthcoming soon.We appreciate your honest feedback and hope that you will give us the opportunity to welcome you back in the future to experience our improved facilities.Kind regardsNick BagshawDuty Manager

No air con or fans, room was sweltering! Window opened a few cm and the bin men came at 5am waking us up. Couldn’t wake to get out of the room. Poor.
