Disgusting, do not stay here
Disgusting. Do not stay here. Carpet in room heavily stained, bed sheets don’t fit so can’t be tucked in and you wake up on yellowing mattress. Rubbish in stairwell for over 24 hours. Do not stay here, there are so many better places to stay!

The Grand Hotel is in an excellent part of town. It is easily walkable to restaurants, the St Nikolas Market, and the shopping mall. The room itself was basic, but clean. The bar was welcoming and the staff friendly

Overall it was shocking, i had to change rooms in the evening and was met with a young rude boy boasting about his wage. Day staff lovely but he was awful, ruined it for me.

I thought other reviewers were perhaps just being a bit negative based on reviews I read and I went with an open mind, but I have to be honest and say I would not stay there again. It is not a very friendly or welcoming hotel. The foyer is beautiful, but the staff are the heart of a place and it just did not have a friendly or welcoming feel. The room was fine, but not worth the money it cost to stay. The walls are thin, you so will hear other guests. Great location, just a shame it doesn't have a nice feel to the place.

Great staff, parking beware.
Staff were awesome, very friendly and helpful, nothing but praise and thanks for them. Car park is a challenge in anything bigger than a small hatchback. I have a medium sized SUV with a fairly decent turning circle, no struggles but many multiple point turns and fretting about scrapes, picked my spot based on likelihood of getting a bump from another car.

The person who checked us in lacks customer service. Don’t expect someone who is over enthusiastic but a bit better personality would help. I don’t understand why they take the card to pre authorise the check in payment and when when you check out they take the card again. Surely if a card is pre authorised it just takes the payment. This is how it worked in all other hotels I have stayed at On leaving we were giving a validated car park ticket which was great but it didn’t work. And when I went back to ask about it the aptitude of the staff member was why am I asking this. The hotel itself is lovely; the room was stunning with coffee tea amenities supplied; the bathroom spacious although surprised that the shower itself has no shampoo or shower gel supplies which you would expect to see in a hotel of this standard. We didn’t use the bar area so can’t comment but the general cleanliness of the hotel was lovely and it’s situated in a perfect location for access to the main shopping area and night life.

Unfortunately an awful experience
Really bad experience. Long queue at check in. Suite was very dated, no working heating and extremely loud due to an organised party going on directly below (until 1am). Asked to change rooms and was told they were full (which wasn’t true as I did get a different room when I spoke to the manager), lady on reception was extremely rude and told me that the party is going on because they have to make money, she also took a personal call and went to the back room to scream loudly at what I assume was a family member. Was moved from the suite to a superior room (which was actually nicer than the suite). Location is good, but seriously awful service.

Good stay over all! Good location and a nice hotel. Heating in the room not working, it was cold. Told reception on the first morning, was told they would put a heater in, no heater provided.

Perfectly decent option for Bristol centre
I was a little perturbed but some of the recent reviews, but I had a perfectly good experience. My room was spacious and well equipped. Hotel parking was fine, if a little pricey for an overnight stay.
