Avis Bear Den - scenic Adirondack cabin escape + lake access

We stayed at the Bear Den when we dropped our daughter off at college. Since it was her first year, we decided to take some family time before we said goodbye.. it was a nice, cozy place to stay, and the kids loved the ability to head to the beach each day. We also enjoyed being able to see and hear the wild life daily. We very much appreciated the provided bathroom items...since we were traveling from the west coast, it was nearly impossible to have shampoo, conditioner, and soap on hand (and our flight was delayed, so we didn't get in until after 11pm), so having it there for us the first morning was wonderful! There are only a few suggestions that I would have for making it even better... There were multiple coffee makers, including a keurig, but no pods provided. Again, as we got in so late, it meant no opportunity to pick up anything before the next day. It would have been nice to have at least a few pods on hand to start our vacation with. The beds were incredibly firm. This, of course, comes down to personal preference, but we all were a bit stiff by the end of the trip. My husband actually looked to see if something had happened to the mattress and thought that maybe we'd only been left with the box springs. I thought he was over reacting a bit, but they were VERY firm, and not very comfortable. Aside from that, it was a wonderful trip, Sarah and TJ were great with communications, and the cabin was clean and ready to go when we got there.

The property was clean and well stocked and the owners were responsive and helpful. I was a bit disappointed by the location and the state of the furniture (well-used and in need of replacement.) It was not comfortable (mattresses included.) Overall a positive experience and we were appreciative of all the positives but I didn’t find it particularly comfortable. Maybe better for a family with young children.

The home was clean and perfect for a little weekend stay. Everything was as described and the area was amazing.

Seriously, this cabin is awesome, the hosts are absolutely top notch, and you shouldn’t think twice about it. We stayed here for the holidays and had a great time. The wooden cabin is decorated in perfect Adirondacks style and the high ceilings and windows give a great airy yet cozy feel. The back patio is essentially you having morning coffee or your evening fire straight into nature. The grill is awesome and the the entire place has got lots or personal touches. The owners were very helpful and showed plenty of flexibility around our needs. I am telling you, this is an awesome place. We can’t wait to be back! Thanks so much guys.

Sarah & TJ are responsive and attentive hosts--from the welcome gift to their immediate response to any questions we had. The house is clean and tidy as well as having a well-equipped kitchen. The unit is set back from the main highway and the lake is a short walk across the street. There are two units on either side of Bear Den and we heard little noise from our neighbors. We enjoyed the firepit, too! Thanks, Sarah & TJ for your hospitality!

The cabin was great. The unit was clean and had everything we needed. Short walk to the beach via the trail. Will come back again for sure.

We came to this area for a family weekend with my daughter and her family. Sarah and TJ were very accessible to us . The house is very well stocked and beautifully arranged. We will definitely consider renting again in the future.
