Great family time

Casa Escapar el Frio was a wonderful spot for our family to gather. We loved the layout and the kids spent many hours in the pool. The location is very good in Bucerías with easy access to the beach, zona Dorado and good restaurants. The weather was very hot and humid but mostly sunny and did not stop us from having a great time. We would love to visit again.

Great property for Families!!

We were a group of 4 families, 8 adults and 6 kids between 2 and 6 years old. We had a great time! There was plenty of space for everyone and the pool was amazing. We loved the variety of places to hang out in this property with the rooftop patios, the large living rooms and the huge patio table! It is well located, only a few min to the beach and close to lots of great restaurants!

Great Family Vacation

We stayed for 8 nights and had a wonderful time with the entire family. Thank you for your hospitality. Erika was always responsive and extremely helpful. I highly recommend this property for both a work getaway or family fun. All the best James

Super place to stay for a family of 12

As an extended family of 12 we very much enjoyed this rental. It was great having our own pools and different spaces for hanging out. Any noise or mess was our own noise and mess. We used the kitchen for most breakfasts and some lunches/snacks. Erika coordinated Sandy and Monika to prepare dinner for us the night we arrived which was handy and yummy although a bit expensive ($400 for 12). The pool and lounging chairs were well used by young and old. A few things to note... the rooftop pool is unheated so a perfect temperature for cooling off but no one lingered for long. There is a large living room and kitchen on the second floor we never used but would have been nice if the weather had turned. The foldout couch in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable so we just put the mattress on the floor which was fine for kids. The location was close to the beach (4 blocks), and there were grocery stores, pharmacies, little markets, a bakery, and a sports bar all within a few blocks. The owners provided some drinking water but after 2 days we had to make the trek to the big store to trade in the empty jugs for new jugs. There is a delivery service but it has to be met in person and we were never there to meet them. It was about a 20 minute walk to the town square as we were at the southern end of town. It was fairly quiet- some road noise from the freeway and music at night from the Todos Los Dios event space which was across the street.

Hello Kirsten, Thank you for your review. You are right, we as well only used the second living room in Casa Sylvia when it was bad weather. Just so you and everybody who reads this knows, the tap water is totally safe to drink. We have a filtration system that, we have been told, rivals the ones at hotels including carbon filters and UV light. The water dispensers in the fridge also have an additional filter. So awesome!

The place was perfect for our group of 15 - plenty of spaces to hang out together but also have room to spread out. The pools were lovely and we so appreciated all the beach umbrellas,chairs and boogie boards. The location was very convenient to the grocery store,the beach, a great sports bar/restaurant (Barchelata). The taxi stand is also right around the corner. We hired Monica to cook a few meals and they were some of the best food we had! Everything was great and we can't wait to come back.

Great Family Propery

This is one of the best places we have ever stayed as a family of 12 adults and 2 toddlers. Plenty of room and everything you can imagine to have a great family vacation. Bucerias has a great family vibe and we hope to come back again soon. Jack, Sylvia, and Erika all went above and beyond to assure we had a great time at their place.

Great Family Time

This is a beautiful property! Two houses with all you could need, a refreshing pool, a beautiful yard, and great outdoor eating/hanging out space. The roof-top pool is great for sunsets. About a mile into downtown Bucerias. 4 stars since we did have maintenance issues, Erika was right on top of them. There were 13 adults and the wi-fi was pretty much non-existent. The listing says the Wi-Fi is good for 6 people but definitely needs stronger Wi-Fi for a property of this size. No hot water in Marilyn for the first three days, they ended up replacing the hot water tank. The BBQ outside the kitchen only ignites halfway, and the roof-top BBQ is completely rotted out. Neither of the safes worked. Erika did give us a key to use one. The air conditioning in the master bedroom was not working. Once the dirty filter was cleaned it worked perfectly. Another AC was leaking water on the floor. The upstairs bathroom for the twin bedroom in Marillyn is very hot with no AC. We would not have used that room if we were a smaller group. My BIL sat in an outdoor wood chair and he fell completely through the rotted chair. Luckily he wasn’t hurt. Cockroaches started coming out from under one of the toilets in Sylvia. We killed at least a dozen (and one centipede). The toilet was not sealed or bolted down. We duct-taped the door closed! The next morning the plumber put in a wax ring and bolted the toilet down and we never saw another cockroach. Maintenance issues aside we would stay again!

Thank you for your review. I am glad maintenance issues got resolved quickly. We will be looking into the WiFi issue because that is not normal. We have never had a complaint about the WiFi. The wooden chairs have been replaced and we our glad your Bil was not hurt. The barbecue on the top terrace is never used so we will remove it. The other one will be replaced. Jack and Sylvia

Needs some TLC

This property could be amazing but the property management company is letting it get far to run down.BBQ on the roof did not work, main BBQ igniter did not work and internal baffles are all rotting, main oven by pool did not work, kitchen light full of bugs, pool deck while tidy had not been swept in a very long time and weeds growing through the tiles. All of these could be easily fixed, biggest problem was no hot water in the main house, we reached out to the managers on 4 separate occasions but it was never fixed for the entire 10 days we were there. The manager had no idea we were coming and the property was not ready upon arrival, we had to go to a hotel for our first night. This along with other things took away from our vacation time.

Patti, thank you for your review. There is no excuse for not knowing you were coming. That was a terrible oversight. In 5 years, this has never happened. A stay at an all-inclusive resort was arranged for you and paid for by management to compensate you for the inconvenience. This was not just a hotel. The barbecue on the roof has never been used while we have owned the property so we were unaware and we will get rid of it. The last guests that used the main barbecue never complained so we assumed it was in good working order, we will replace it. It needs to be noted that built-in, battery operated, barbecue lighters do not last long in the humid salty environment. That is why we provide a handheld lighter. Apparently, the new stove/oven that was ordered was installed before your stay. I contacted our maid service and they tell me it works fine. I don't know why it did not work for you. We will post instructions on how to use it. The oven in the other house is in good working order so you could have used that one. This property does have two full kitchens. The kitchen light full of bugs is a constant problem as it is exposed to the outside. We will instruct management to stay on top of it. The pool deck and area should have been cleaned and weed free. Unfortunately, our gardener/ groundskeeper was down with Covid so it was not taken care of. It should have been taken care of nonetheless. The fact that the hot water was out is very unfortunate. Luckily you could use the other house for your needs although it was inconvenient. I had a talk with the manager, he was unable to get a plumber the first few days and after hurricane Lidia hit, it was impossible to get a contractor in. He should have communicated that with you. I do not want to make excuses but at times, Mexico requires patience. It's not Canada or the USA.. We apologise for all the inconveniences. The hurricane certainly did not help which also made staff unavailable. We have offered you a $1000 refund or a 20% discount on a future stay for the inconvenience. We are waiting to hear from you on your choice. Jack and Sylvia
