Took an hour to get breakfast because only one person dealing with everything.
Musty smell in hotel.
Bath panel missing.
No one running bar.
Tired and in need of decoration that is not dark and gloomy and full of Xmas decs.

Needs work
Posted Sep. 9, 2023 on HotelsFirst impressions count, the garden hasn’t been touched in months if at all. I didn’t eat or look around inside, my room was basic and dated, no light for bathroom only a mirror light, the place has so much potential but needs work and attention to detail.
No remote for TV I had to ask, no Wi-Fi password in the room so make sure you get it from the desk. Definitely not 4 star more 2-3. Just do the basics first

Quieter stay in Bude
Posted Sep. 3, 2023 on HotelsThe hotel/guest house is ideally situated in a quieter residential area, but still within easy reach of all amenities. The room was clean and bright, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom facilities good. The service was excellent, if perhaps a little slow, but that did not detract from my experience in any way. The breakfast was ample and well presented. The garden could be given some TLC to improve the outside seating area. I would happily stay here again.

Grim.
Property is well located with beaches and town centre within a 10 minute walk.
We feared the worst on arrival where the front lawns and outside space have clearly not seen a strimmer or lawn mower for many months.
Inside the lighting throughout is very dim and the whole place is tired and needs a refurb.
Our room was large but all furniture was dated along with the carpet and bed linen. Wall paper peeling off the wall under the window and the side panel missing from the bath. Assume this had been removed to fix a leak but not replaced.
Bed linen was clean enough but clearly aged.
We went for breakfast and again the lighting in the room was very dim - to the point you could hardly see the contents of the table. The room was full and we waited to be served. Waited, waited and waited.
After 10 minutes we still hadn't seen a member of staff although we could hear cooking in the kitchen.
I went to see if any serving staff were available and was horrified to see a smelly, dirty dog cage in the kitchen!
We left, packed and departed. Went to Rosies beach cafe 5 minutes down the road and paid for a fabulous breakfast.
At checkout I was going to to raise our concerns but again no staff and i really didn't want to hang around.
I would have given 1 star but actually the bed was very comfortable and we did have a good night's sleep.
We visit Bude regularly but we won't be back.

A beautiful house with lots of original features. Room very clean and spacious. Host very welcoming and avery nice cooked breakfast. Would recomend to anyone thinking of staying in Bude.

Just Satisfactory but could be good.

I appreciate his business suffered with Covid soon after he bought the property so we wish home every success as this business deserves to become a good hotel.
I don’t think he has had training how to run a hotel and guests expectations. This is a priority issue.
There was no TV handset to be found on our first night so no TV for us. When mentioned he said he had given it to another room and forgot to put it back for us which was disappointing, particularly as no apology was given.
Our room was good apart from the awful wobbly sliding toilet door with no lock. It was noisy to close during the night so every time the door was closed it woke each other up.
It was disappointing to see Christmas Decorations were still up from last Christmas!
The dining room is in urgent need of repainting as the walls look black and the lighting was poor. The reception area was unkempt with an extension lead plugged in on top of the counter! Other guests felt the same.
No butter was available- just Lurpak margarine which was so disappointing for any guest house to serve but this was a hotel!
Outside garden needs attention as grass was uncut.
You expect a hotel to have better standards.
Nevertheless this hotel has huge potential to improve so we wish this business every success and hope you will give them a chance and stay overnight in 2024 once they have had time to bring the premises to the standard of a small hotel.
