Restful place to stay. The “long room” was great for sitting and thinking (and reading).

Perhaps living on past glories

Our room looked like it had been recently refurbished and certainly the bathroom had been, however the decoration looked very amateurish- I can paint a door better than the bathroom one. I thought the food offering would be more high end with an emphasis on Shetland seafood but it was fairly standard, nothing particularly stood out. For example one choice was lasagna and it was made with Aberdeen Angus beef and Orkney cheese to give it that locally produced feel. Dundee marmalade is world famous but their choice of Tiptree from Essex and portions of Lakeland butter shows they are not walking the talk. Another area for improvement would be to vacuum more thoroughly, especially the stairs leading to the bedrooms. We still enjoyed our stay and the staff are very welcoming.

A beatiful location with much character and history. Hearing the sound of the sea from my bedroom was very special. Excellent customer service too, I would recommend a visit.
