Excellent Trip to a Quiet Part of Tennessee
Publié le 26 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe really enjoyed our stay at Whispering Pines, this property is set in a very quiet and secluded neighborhood near Lake Watauga. Its very cozy inside with multiple fireplaces and enough rooms to spread out when visiting with large groups. The hot tub is located in a perfect spot to provide some privacy. We spent a warm afternoon outside grilling and making s'mores in the fire pit. The house is located about half an hour from a proper grocery store in Elizabethton so stock up while your out. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Tennessee.

Fantastic. Just the place we needed.

Mountains and lake were amazing. Would definitely book again. The place had everything we needed. A great place to just be in the moment.

Beautiful House
Publié le 24 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe house was extremely clean and very beautiful. There are so many cool accents to this house, it was obviosuly very thought out when it was built. The kitchen was excellently stocked. It made for a wonderfully relaxing vacation!

Family vacation

We enjoyed sitting outside under the covered deck because of the rainy week we had. The owner had contacted me several times to see how things were going. Plenty of room for every and we would definitely stay there again in the future.

Family vacation

We enjoy walking but with a group that wasn’t considered a short walk and then inclines . We ended up driving up the road a ways and swimming at the lake . The house is perfect and host stayed in touch . We enjoyed our stay . Thank you

Hi Lora - So glad you and the family loved your stay at Whispering Pines. We are at the top of the mountain so although it’s only 200 yards to the private marina, we typically drive down too if we have a lot of stuff or small children as the walk back is up hill all the way. So glad you had a great time! Hope to see you again at Whispering Pines!

Owner accused me of having animals in the home and leaving it a wreck.
Publié le 13 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayWe have stayed in this home several times over the past few years and had to leave this trip 3 nights earlier than expected because I received a call that my mother was dying. We spent several hours cleaning the house before we left and I notified the owner we were leaving. He sent me messages saying that we could book make up days 5 days after we left. 7 days after we left it appears his cleaner showed up and blamed us for trashing the house, and said we had animals in the home which was untrue. The day after my mom died he decided to write a nasty review and sent photos that appear to be a rodent that got in his home some time after I left and before the cleaner arrived. He then accused me of leaving guests behind after we left. Completely outraged after so many good years visiting this home.

We have photos of the place after check out from our cleaning crew. Two doors were left wide open and the fireplace running in the summer. Initially we sent a very heartfelt note out due to the death in the family but this just can’t happen. Raccoons got in our home and defecated on our fireplace. This is totally unacceptable and cannot happen. The above review was written in retaliation after we said they could not come back. We have 14 years of 5 and 4 star reviews.

Family Vacation

We were amazed at the detail and workmanship in the cabin.
The cabin was almost perfect for our stay.
At one point, we had 6 adults and 4 children under the age of 5 staying in the cabin. We all had plenty of room and thoroughly enjoyed our time together.
Tom responded to several issues at check-in in a timely manner.
The flowering planters were a nice touch!
We saw lots of wildlife, including a family of black bears.
The fire pit was perfect for s’mores and family memories.
The grill was very convenient and we used it often.
The rockers, hammock and outdoor games were welcomed.
The directions Tom gave made it easy to find the cabin.
We are very glad to have had the boat slip available and thankful that Tom suggested reserving a boat early.
The lake is absolutely gorgeous as we spent most days on/in it!
Cons:
We arrived about 30 minutes after check-in time, as requested by Tom, and contractors were still working and worked for another hour or so.
Upon arrival, we found the refrigerator, freezer, oven, and general living areas in need of a good cleaning.
There was no vacuum available for guests. (The housekeeper left hers for our use!)
During our month long stay the construction crew showed up at the cabin twice, once with a two hour notice and one time without any notice. We found this to be an inconvenience.

Steve, we loved having your family at our home and your took great care of it. Thank you! We are so glad you loved boating on the lake and loved all the unique riches of our chalet. As you can expect repairs need to be made and we hired a contractor to rebuild our wrap around deck railing for both safety and cosmetic reasons 5 weeks prior to your check in and due to supply chain delays they started the project 3 days prior to your check in. Although you were inconvenienced for a few hours the house was in great shape for your stay. Our goal is perfection and 5 stars always so we didn’t achieve that but just know that is always our goal. Hope to see you next time. Thx for treating Whispering Pines like it was your own.

So glad you thought the property was beautiful and you had a great experience. Not sure what your issue was with the thermostat. We would have been happy to help if you had reached out. Also, it is January. You could have just opened the windows if you were hot. We were there just before you and it was negative 2.
