The hotel is very picturesque and characterful. The room was well appointed and decorated. You can eat downstairs in the pub and there was a good menu choice and a range of ales and lagers. Our food was very tasty. Breakfast options are limited.

The room was amazing and the staff were lovely, the pub is nice and cosy too .

Lovely short break

We have just spent a three night stay at the Devonshire Arms. It has just changed management and we were welcomed by a warm and friendly team. The room was a good size with a wonderful power shower and had modern decor. We ate twice in the pub and the meals were lovely and very reasonably priced. I would recommend the Devonshire and its the perfect place for a base to explore the area.

Quaint country pub in beautiful setting
Publié le 1 sept. 2020 sur HotelsThe Devonshire is set in a very small village in the heart of the Peak district. Check is done at the pub bar but we were greeted very warmly by the server and everything was ready for us. There are only 3 rooms upstairs. Ours was very nice, clean and had views of the back of the property. The only negative thing I could say was the wifi did not work in our room and we both had zero phone signal so we were cut off from the world, but we quite enjoyed having a phone free stay. It did work in the bar downstairs. Dinner was really good, typically pub classics but done very well and clearly freshly cooked, not bought in. The bartender was really chatty and quirky, he was constantly talking to everyone but not in an annoying way, extremely pleasant and attentive. There is not a lot in Hartington except the pub, 1 hotel and a few small shops but I would stay again as its one of the prettiest places to stay, and only a short drive from other hot spots.
