Jorany Hotel is Just Okay
The hotel is okay. I wouldn't consider it 4-stars based on Nigerian or International standards, but it was okay. Its definitely seen better days, but it looked like they were renovating so hopefully the hotel improves.
The price was very affordable and a nice surprise as I'm used to paying a lot of money for hotels in Nigeria (and there is a nice-sized pool that's being cleaned constantly, which is great for the price).
Anyway, the staff wasn't very friendly. No one really smiled or spoke. Some people were downright rude, and more than once, it seemed that after being rude, the person apologized (like they remembered I was a hotel guest). I also had a issue with WI-Fi, being told that the rate that I paid on Expedia was lower than they charge so I wasn't entitled to free wi-fi. I did get free wi-go in the end though.
The person who checked me in and out of the hotel, Kelly, was very friendly and helpful. He was also very apologetic about the generator issues from the night before I checked out.
Truthfully, Jorany isn't a bad hotel. But It's "just okay" and in a great location, in beautiful Calabar.
