Hot and uncomfortable (great location though)
The location is lovely – located in a heritage block in a revitalized inner-city neighbourhood. Try The Apprentice for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. The suite is uncomfortable. The bed (which takes up all but a few inches of the bedroom’s footprint) is a memory foam with Alzheimer's… difficult to move around once it swallows you up and impossible to roll over on. Sitting on the sofa (your only other choice) is no better. Every mechanism of the pull-out mattress is discernable through the thin cushion. The kitchen is okay… There is, however, no table and chairs so if you did indeed want to use the kitchen for its intended purpose, you’d be obligated to face the thinly veiled mechanisms in the sofa. The bathroom was the highlight. Everything was of a normal size, in a normal-sized room. A toilet paper holder wouldn’t go amiss, however. Also a caveat: the bathroom has no fan and opens directly into the kitchen. You’ve been warned. And the heat! Good god, the heat. My 92-year-old father keeps his apartment cooler! Opening the bedroom door felt like a blast furnace. Despite the thermostat being set to “zero”, it was stiflingly hot every minute we were there, even with the window open and the fan on overnight. In October. I assume that the impressive number of beetles is because the bugs are looking for warmth, but again, you’ve been warned. This property has finally driven me into the arms of Calgary’s hoteliers.
