Avoid first floor

The person who checked us in was super nice. We enjoyed using the pool in the evening. The problem came when we saw bugs in the room. The worst was a large cockroach that I saw when I went to the bathroom at 1:30 AM. We called the front desk who put us into a room on the second floor. The person was perfectly nice. He indicated that bugs can be an issue on the first floor. Unfortunately we lost a lot of sleep that night. We do not totally blame the hotel. It is, after all, in the middle of the desert. However, we do feel that weather stripping and sealing off the hotel should be especially important as a result of the location. It would have also been helpful had they warned us at checkin.
