Very nice stay for our honeymoon! Staff was very attentionate,food was very good and alll the facilities were Nice and clean! Hotel was very well located. Its own private beach was calm and very nice to swim and even snorkle just in front of the hôtel. We were able to observe many sorts of fishes.

I honestly hate leaving bad reviews, but sometimes it has to be done. First the room. It smelled so badly, like chemicals and very strong. We made a complaint and was told it's too late to move to another room. That's fine, but then nothing was done to remedy that. Second, the shower was not working and when we tried to make a call to the front desk and the phone was not working either. That was fixed, only for the shower to again not work when we tried to use it again (the top half was not working). We made due with the bottom half of it. Lastly that pool bar. The odor that comes from there is toxic. You could not sit at the bar without it engulfing you. I will say though that the staff was amazing. That is probably the only reason i would give the resort a few stars. This was my first and last stay at the Riu Las Americas.

Love everything about this resort! The best one I have ever been at. I love how convenient everything is located. I am older and love how you can go from two of the pools right to the beach and is close. The beach there is calm and easy to get into and out of. Was a clean beach also. The services there were very helpful and eager to help you. So So nice Will be back to this one.

Upon check in, no complimentary drink offered as advertised. Front desk personal rude and use language barrier as reasons not to help. My wife and several other guest we spoke to got food poisoning and the hotel personal did not care. After the illness was reported to Alex, the night manager, he said he would check the food and contact us about compensation. Not sure how you check what was on the buffet in the afternoon versus the evening when the illness was reported. The night manager, Alex could care less about the guests. When we asked to talk with him most employees said they didn’t know who you were talking about until after you became more persistent. We were told he wouldn’t be in until 11:00 pm when we questioned why he never got back to us, The following morning we were told he was off that day. When we questioned it again the desk clerk just smiled and shrugged as if he didn’t understand. Notice paint peeling on building and some areas in need of repair. The elevators are small and only fit about six people tightly packed and one was not working for 3 of our 4 days. Some hotel employees such as the dining staff were very nice and helpful but their management teams definitely need work.
