Great cabin to get away!
Publié le 13 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayI love the property and the cabin was cozy and adorable. Although we were only there for one night, we had a great time. The firepit was perfect for roasting s'mores and the weather was just right for an evening outdoors. It is very close to the lake and we enjoyed watching the wildlife around the property. I would definitely return. We were sad to find the telescope wasn't available but still made the most of our time there. Thank you!

Beautiful cabin

Absolutely Incredible Accomodation. Exceeded all Expectations
Publié le 23 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayWhat a fantastic place! Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Dream Away Cabin is a beautiful, welcoming cedar log home. It is exceptionally clean, extremely well appointed, and care has been taken with all the little details. Stella was an absolute joy to work with, responding quickly to all my questions and providing excellent information on the area. The deer were plentiful and we loved to feed them from the comfort of the huge front porch. The lake is a short 10 minutes walk away down a peaceful country lane. I wish I could have stayed longer.
If you are looking for a truly first rate country get away, look no further.
I can’t believe I have not seen this gem in the Hill Country before. I will certainly be back

Beautiful property!
Publié le 27 déc. 2023 sur HomeAwayThe cabin was beautiful and felt like home. The only downside was, there was a quite a bit of stink bugs inside and jumping at us when we were in the dining and living area.

Hi! Glad you like the cabin. The stink bugs were coming in due to the cold front we just had. The pest control guy has come in and sprayed so the bug issue has been resolved. :-)

A not so relaxing weekend getaway
Publié le 31 mai 2023 sur HomeAwayMy family and I were looking forward to a relaxing getaway to Canyon Lake during Memorial Day weekend. However, we didn’t know the owner would not be reachable or out of town away on a plane on our first day of arrival. When we first arrived, the pin to the front entrance gate could not be found. There was a code but due to the solar powered gate not working, the directions in the outdated cabin packet said to take the pin out if the arm attached to the gate and push it open. We found the pin located on top of the gate box. My poor husband didn’t know he was going to have to do more work after working all week but the TV wasn’t working properly and the description clearly said free Netflix which we thought would already be set up for us to enjoy with our kids during the evenings in the cabin. My husband drove to the nearest store to buy new batteries for the remote but then realized the fire stick remote latch was not opening and closing properly. When I tried called the owner Stella using the number she gave us on the packet, it went straight to voicemail several times. A VRBO agent who I called for assistance also couldn’t reach her. It wasn’t until around 2:30 am Stella texted me saying she was on a plane out of town and apologized. She didn’t give us any other contact to reach in her text until I asked for one who could come look at the tv. The housekeeper came on Saturday and confirmed it didn’t work. My husband and I were very frustrated maintenance was not done.

Regarding the gate issue the guest highlighted, the gate was already unlocked and the pin had already been removed, so all they needed to do was push the gate open. Yes, I was on the plane at that very moment so, unfortunately, I couldn't tell her to just push it, however, to be honest, this was quite obvious.
With regards to Netflix, it is unfortunate that the App wasn't working. We had guests the weekend before and it was fine when they left. This guest was furious that her kids couldn't watch Netflix, while in the cabin in the beautiful Hill Country. I consequently asked my cleaner, to take a look at it. She also brought her son with her who was technically very savvy. Unfortunately, they were still unable to get it working. At that point, the guest was extremely rude to both of them . This was not acceptable! I do not appreciate people who are mean or rude to those who try to help them. I apologized profusely to my cleaner and her son for the verbal abuse they endured. They did not deserve such terrible treatment. The guest also demanded a refund on their stay because Netflix wasn't working! It's just an App and I offered to give her the password so they can watch Netflix on their devices. I also refunded the full cost of Netflix for one month. Overall, I believe this individual was looking for ways to get a refund on her whole weekend stay. I would certainly not recommend renting to this individual.
