Disappointing.

Booked this for friends of ours (a mature couple from the UK). They have travelled around the world and have stayed in all sorts of places. They said that the Stables was at a beautiful location but the service was not great, the room was ok but not 100% clean and the breakfast was very disappointing. They encouraged us not to use this venue for future guests.

Mycket trivsamt boende

Härlig liten ”lägenhet” i charmigt trä, fräscht intryck av både köksdel och duschrum. Bodde i rummet ”bakom” innegården, mycket privat och lugnt och ingen att störa. Hörde dock andra gäster/personal dagtid från andra sidan huset så det var inte kusligt tyst heller - perfekt.

rude owner, accommodation not as advertised or pro

I booked several months in advance ,and choose the Stables Lodge specifically as it was advertised as pet friendly, and we were attending a wedding in Franschoek late in the afternoon. One week before our stay the owner asked if we would ming giving up our room for another guest who was staying 2 nights and didn't want to have to move. I was more than happy to oblige. She then asked what time I was arriving and I emailed her back , late morning. My daughter and I arrived at 11.30, and were asked curtly by the owner why we were so early?? Then were informed that our room was NOT dog friendly and that she would gladly refund our money and we should seek alternate accommodation . Really ??? when we had to leave for our wedding at 3!!! Eventually my daughter and I persuaded her that it was way to late to seek other accommodation so late. We were shown to our room at the back of the house and told to stay in doors as there were 2 very vicious dogs that would attack my dog. This in 40 degree heat. We put our stuff down and were about to have rest before wedding when loud screaming children prevented us from doing so, while they splashed about in a pool right outside our door and which guests were not allowed to go. We showered , there was NO shampoo or body lotion .. only cheap soap which didn't even lather. When we returned from wedding our room backed a parking lot where drunk teenagers prevented us from sleep, and where this small outside room made weird noises all night etc etc

When the stay does not start in the right way unfortunately it is100%sure that you will find everything wrong.This is why I offered you the full refund.We are used to have happyGuests and we rather prefer to loose business!Let me reply, something that was almost impossible on the day you were here.Below is the email I sent you with our friendly reminder regarding the check in time: 'Dear Terry,I trust that you are well.With the present we wish to remind that our check in is from14until18, Kindly let us know at what time you will arrive so that we can organize the check in for you.’ Your reply was:'Hi Ilaria, I think you have the wrong person,my booking is for the Stables butNOTfrom 14-18 but on a different night.'With this reply I already start to hope that your night reservation was not going to give me any issues… You were very kind to reply that was fine to be host in another room so that another Guest could stay2nights in the same room. Me+Guest appreciate your kind cooperation.I forgot to add the details regarding your early check in on the book this is why, when you arrived, I was reminding you our checkin time,sorry about it.But than I got a surprise:you checked in with a dog!Than I explained that no dog were mentioned in your booking. And here the problems starts..your reaction was like a wall in front of me…so I was trying to find a solution even if I was fully booked and in front of me I found a person complaining and explaining me how I must make my job!For instance you were insisting saying that on the web site it says ‘Pet friendly’so I have to accept pets!I tried to explain that it does not work this way,Pets are alwaysON RQfor obviously reasons.Please note that the guest house is also our house so I do not think I must justified if I have a pool and my children might be heard sometimes.Simply check the website with all correct info

The hostess was wonderful as she took time to walk us around and explain how the property worked for us as guests. The location is super for safety since it's in a nice neighborhood and close to rural areas.

Great stay conveniently located ...Ilaria makes it a home from home. Air con in the rooms which helps with the heat!
