This property is a strong part of the Irish History on PEI. This land was settled in the mid 1800's and this house was the second home built for the Reilly family. It sits on 14 acres and has easy beach access. Every effort has been made to keep the home as authentic as possible and with the exception of the bathroom, deck and sunroom on the back, everything is very much as it was intended to be.
The first thing about this property is it's location. It's truly a get away from it all kind of place. The meandering path to the beach, the private cove, a babbling brook, and stunning sunsets make this a place of peace and contentment. The beach is ideal for beach fires, gatherings, bass fishing and star gazing. You won't want to miss all the sky has to offer both day and night.
Charlottetown is a day trip. Two hours from Cape Wolfe and while the maps say its less the drive is so scenic you will need to plan for lots of breaks. But if local is your thing you can take a drive up to North Cape along the shore. This drive has been voted one of the 10 best drives in Canada. You can take in Skinner's Pond, Nail Pond, Sea Cow Pond, North Cape just to name a few of the most breath taking views. Local produce and fish is abundant. The fish truck comes into O'Leary a couple of days a week and roadside stands offer up fresh produce. There is also a fishing cove near the house where you can buy fresh scallops and lobsters depending on the season. If your lucky enough to find a fisherman who bottles his own bar clams never pass them up!
The kitchen is updated with lots of room for dinning and relaxing. It's fully equipped and you are invited to use the staples provided. Cooking local fair is a passion and meals are to be enjoyed.
There is a large deck off the porch and an outdoor bbq. There is also an out building that has a lobster cooker and all the fixings for a feed are provided. You can buy your fresh lobster right from the boat to your pot to enjoy (season permitting). Of course there are Oysters. If Oysters are your thing let us know when your booking and we will arrange a meeting with one of the local growers.
Mill River Golf course is nearby and it's a beautiful course. The area also has a lighthouse you can tour, a potato museum, and weekly Ceilidhs close by. There are lots of beaches for combing and sea glass to be collected. Tell us your interests when you book and we'll do our best to connect you. After all, we want you to love PEI as much as we do.
