The town is home to the Intra-Verbania railway station and the primary ferry terminal, making it a central point for travel around Lake Maggiore and to other lakeside towns. From here visitors can take the car ferry to the Borromean Islands and the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore.

Outdoor enthusiasts can also reach a number of hiking trails directly from the house and the beautiful Giardini Botanici di Villa Taranto renowned for its incredible collection of plants from around the world is a 28-minute drive away. Parco Nazionale della Val Grande is a 40-minute drive away.
