Family Vacation
Publié le 24 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThere were eleven family members. The home and pool were wonderful. The only problem was the icemaker did not work the whole week which meant we bought a lot of ice.

Our Third Stay at Casa Captiva
Publié le 15 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe have been visiting Captiva for 40 years and have booked through American Realty or Royal Shell and never had any issues. This was our third time staying in Casa Captiva as it was one of our favorite homes, especially being close to the beach. This time we rented through Dream Vacations. On day 3, there was a sewage smell by the pool. We thought it was another house being serviced. The next day the smell was worse. Our 7 year old grandson reported that he saw water coming out of the ground by the pool. Upon inspection my husband discovered that the leach field was overflowing, coming up through the bricks, and coming into the pool area. We contacted Dream Vacations hoping someone would come out right away. We were told a technician would come out either later that day or the next morning. When they texted to say the technician would be coming in the morning, we reported that sewage water was running into the pool area and we were unable to enjoy the pool or allow our grandsons in the backyard. We were told through text that they apologize but appreciated our patience. When the technician arrived at 7 AM the next morning, we had to show him what was happening. No one from Dream Vacations showed up. We called, emailed and texted with no response from Dream vacations the rest of our stay. Our first vacation we have been able to take as a family was ruined by a sewage leak and an unresponsive property management company. We hope the owner sees this.

Thank you for your review, however, it’s very unfortunate that you chose to completely inaccurate with the reality of situation and response. As soon as we saw your message about the issue, we had Maintenace check it out to confirm. The owner was notified and the septic company to repair asap. They came and repaired the very next day. The system was serviced not to long ago and has a regular maintenance schedule. If we or the owner would have known of any issue, we would have taken the steps to rectify right away. We kept you in the loop via our messaging system and followed up with a phone call. You chose to hang up on us and be completely disrespectful. We’re a family owned company and do everything we can to make our owners and guests as happy as possible. We do appreciate when guests treat us respectfully and not as if we could care less about anything we do. As I’m sure you’re aware, things happen with private homes. You do the best you can to get someone out and repair as quickly as possible. We hope you provide empathy and grace in the future should situations arise that require intervention by a vendor. We wish you nothing but the best and hope you can come back to Captiva and experience a five star stay

Captiva vacation
Publié le 27 oct. 2022 sur HomeAwayOn our first full day at the property, the septic tanks backed up. We were not able to shower or use the toilet for a full 28 hours before the problem was fixed. After that, the rest of the stay was fine. The property manager reimbursed us $1000 for the septic issue and the inconvenience it caused

Great location in Captiva
Publié le 28 sept. 2022 sur HomeAwayThe property was exactly as advertised. We had no issues during our stay and would definitely stay here again. Very clean and spacious, with plenty of room and amenities for everyone. We especially enjoyed the short walk to the beach, and the pool area.

Great location
Publié le 7 août 2022 sur HomeAwayThe house was very nice and the pool was amazing. The location was great to. Quiet, but a quick walk to everything. The beach supplies were great too.
We only had three concerns. First, there were no dressers in most of the bedrooms. It isn’t nice to live out of a suitcase for a week. Second, the “bedroom” with the full sized bed is actually a converted walk in closet. This room had no windows, no closet and nothing but hooks for your clothes. Last concern is that the master doesn’t have a door to separate it from the hallway.
Other than that, we had a great time.

DISAPPOINTED
Publié le 11 juill. 2022 sur HomeAwayHouse was nice but feel it was over rated. Cockroach issues unacceptable. Kitchen utensils lacking in many ways. Returned home with all our clothes smelling musty. 5 percent discount for a guest waking up to a cockroach crawling across his chest is a no go.

So sad to see the review as the homeowners have gone above and beyond to the home into one of the best properties on the island. We certainly do understand the issue you had with pests. As we did explain, the home had regular pest control and we could send them out any time in between if there are ever issues. One of the best parts of the home is that it’s on a tropical Island and a drawback in terms of pests is that it’s a tropical island. While pest control is in place, it’s a constant battle to keep them at bay. We’ve also added quite a bit to the kitchen so guests won’t have to do dishes constantly while on vacation. With everything being re-done inside, tons of beach stuff and high end finishes, it’s certainly disappointing for anything less than five stars. We hope to welcome you back another time and love the island even more.

Overall Very Satisfied with Casa Captiva
Publié le 5 juill. 2022 sur HomeAwayOverall, our stay at Casa Captiva was very enjoyable. The location is great; 5 houses from the beach and no crowding on the beach. The garage contains a beach cart, umbrellas, a number of chairs, a kite, float noodles and lots of beach toys for the kids. The pool also has several blow-up toys for the kids. There is a play pen and a small, folding chair for toddlers. The family room accommodated all the adults for watching TV. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, cups, glasses, silverware, pots and pans, and appliances, easily for 12 people. The refrigerator is relatively small for accommodating food for 12 people for a week. The one big drawback for us was the room configuration. The third bedroom with a bathroom has two twin beds, which didn't accommodate our 6+ ft tall adult. The queen bedroom is small, and is located between the master bedroom and its bathroom. There is no window, nor ceiling fan in this room. Visitors should also realize that, off the beach, the area has a lot of mosquitoes, which particularly swarm around the pool area. The house is within walking distance of the local restaurants, ice cream and the island food store. Overall, a very enjoyable family vacation week.

We understand your feedback about the refrigerator size for a week-long stay with 12 people. We'll definitely consider this for future improvements.
Regarding the room configuration, we apologize that the third bedroom with twin beds wasn't suitable for your taller guest. We might explore options for converting this room to a king bed in the future, based on guest feedback like yours.
It's also helpful to know you encountered mosquitoes around the pool area. We can certainly look into additional mosquito control measures to enhance the outdoor experience.

Great Location & Home Layout
Publié le 14 juin 2022 sur HomeAwayThe home was perfect for our group of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids). The layout of the home allowed for privacy of each family, the pool and outdoor space was great. Beach proximity was just 4 homes down and the storage is loaded with all necessary beach items.
When we first arrived, the plumbing backed up and it turned out that the septic tanks were completely full. The property manager had plumbers out immediately; however, they entered without permission which concerned us. The kitchen is beautiful and well laid out but if you love cooking like us, be prepared for subpar pans and knives. The no see ums were so bad so bring bug spray and outdoor candles.

Thank you so much for the review. Very happy that you had a great time. The topical storm had just passed and the septic had a power issue and it allowed water to enter. Glad we were able to fix right away and our apologies on the vendor. We certainly do our best with that and keeping our guests aware of any arrival times etc. I’ll also pass along the info to the owners about the kitchen items.
