Très bien accueillis avec gâteaux faits maison et une bouteille au frais. Gîte très plaisant ; bien équipé à tous les niveaux. Très propre et literie confortable. Nous le recommandons vivement.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Lily's cottage, une superbe maison décorée avec goût et nous avons apprécié son confort. Accueillis par ses charmants propriétaires, Eileen et Richard, qui habitent à deux pas et se montrent d'une grande disponibilité pour des conseils (merci pour la balade à Buttermere!) ou une simple conversation. Sur la table à notre arrivée, un panier garni de thé, de café, de pain et une bouteille de vin pour se réconforter après une longue route! Dans le frigo, du lait, des oeufs et des légumes fraîchement cueillis dans le jardin. Autant le dire tout de suite, le cottage est d'une propreté impeccable et très bien équipé ! La région est magnifique : au Sud, la région des lacs et ses paysages à la lumière qui a enchanté les poètes romantiques, au Nord, l'Ecosse, ses paysages et ses traditions. Edimbourgh est à 1h30 d'une route facile. Nous recommandons vivement un séjour à Lily's cottage et y reviendrons avec plaisir quand nos projets nous guiderons à nouveau vers le nord de l'Angleterre. We spent a wondeful stay in Lily's cottage, a splendid house, décorated with much taste, and we appreciated its confort and the warmth it conveys. Welcomes by its lovely landlords, Eileen and Richard, who live at a stone's throw, and proved to be very helpful for advice or simply for a nice talk. On our arrival, we found a basket with bread, tea, coffee and a bottle of wine to comfort us after a long drive :-) Cherry on the pie, Eileen brought us vegetables freshly collected from the house garden! Let's say it honestly : the cottage is particularly clean and very well equipped. The surroundings are really beautiful : to the South, the Lake District and their light that has inspired the most famous romantic poets and to the North, Scotland, its landscapes and its traditions. Edimburgh is reached after a 1.30 hour-drive on an easy road. We warmly recommend staying at Lily's cottage and shall return with pleasure when our plans guide us to the North of England.

The cottage is beautiful, immaculately clean, very comfortable, well equipped, and spacious with 3 bedrooms snd two bathrooms. I would describe it as a little gem with oodles of character. Eileen and Richard are wonderful hosts. Such lovely people and gave great tips about where to go and where best to park. Got to mention Humphrey, Maple and Syrup - the adorable ducks! The cottage is in a great location to see Cumbria, the Lake District, Northumberland, and Dumfries & Galloway. Absolutely loved our stay here and wished we could have stayed longer. We are planning on booking another stay!

Enjoyed our stay, the accommodation was perfect. Weather could have been kinder.

We regularly stay in holiday properties; most are adequate to good and they vary quite a lot in terms of being well equipped and the quality and taste of decor and furnishings. Eileen & Richard’s house is unquestionably one of the nicest we’ve ever stayed at. The entire house is tastefully and thoughtfully furnished, the kitchen has everything you could need and more; bedrooms comfortable and there are many small, but well considered little touches throughout the house that make it feel so welcoming and friendly. Eileen & Richard are lovely hosts; so friendly and knowledgeable about places to visit in the vicinity. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend in the highest possible terms.

A bit hard to find but well worth it when we got there. Our hosts could not do enough to please us. They were absolutely brilliant. Also their knowledge and recommendations of the area were spot on.The cottage itself was immaculate and all the appliances and furnishings were 1st class. And as an aside Josephine and the ducks were a delight.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lily Cottage. Well equipped, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. The hosts were perfection and we discovered several gems (salvage yard/plant nursery/private swimming pool!) that we'd otherwise have probably overlooked. We'd love to return!

We loved staying at the cottage. It was quiet with a beautiful view in the distance. The cottage was spacious with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. The kids enjoyed watching the ducks and sitting on the raised platform overlooking the duck pond. Eileen was a great and kind host. Super friendly and took great care of us. I would recommend staying here if you want a quiet retreat near Carlisle. It was a good 45-50 min drive to Keswick, but we like driving and had no regrets on location. We are so glad we stayed here!
